I can never understand why someone would hold a grudge against a company...

Cuz they fired me.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

So many people need to branch out. There's more to gaming than Nintendo.

People have branched out, thats why Nintendo consoles sell less each gen and Playstation and Xbox sell more.

Let's pretend that Wii/DS era didn't exist.

On topic, I liked the PS brand in the PSOne/PS2 era, in fact they were one of my favourite consoles ever. But since PS3 era I've never felt the need to buy any Sony console because I can play 95% of PS3/PS4 catalogue in my PC, and the exclusives are not my cup of tea. Only games I regret I can't play right now are Bloodborne and TLOU, but they are not enough to justify the purchase of the console. I feel consoles are now like cheap PCs, with some ocassionally exclusives.

Lets pretend that this isnt videogame factual history:

NES: 61.91

SNES: 49.10

N64: 32.93

GC: 21.74

Wii: 101.17 (anomaly)

WiiU: 9.96 (already announced a suscesor)

----------------------------

Xbox: 24.65

Xbox 360: 84.9

Xbox One: 13.07 (outsold X360 in the same timeframe)

----------------------------

PS1: 104.25

PS2: 157.68

PS3: 85.77

PS4: 23.75 (outsold previous consoles in same timeframe)

considering the PS3 had a weak library at times and the PS2 was underpowered- historically Playstation hasn't really always been at the top

obviously they have the most power this generation and are the go-to system, but I find it strange that based one system you say that

also in terms of some people making comments about Nintendo consoles selling less in different recent generations- that may be true but it would be naive to ignore the huge emphasis that the company puts into their handheld division. when you're selling 50-100 million handhelds each generation it obviously isn't going to be as easy to focus on their main console as it would be for Sony or Microsoft. I think that plays a big part. there's the Vita but let's be honest, Sony isn't producing a ton of their own IP's for it

Microsoft doesn't even operate in the handheld gaming market. Just emphasizing the fact that when you spread your resources across two different systems EACH generation, naturally maybe one will suffer or be less broadly attractive. in the case of recent years it's clear that in a way (deliberately or accidentally) Nintendo has prioritized their handheld over their home console

as soon as they integrate the two together or adjust their focus I think the Nintendo brand will flourish more and be more appreciated in terms of more variety popping up (although there still is plenty!)

It would be factual if you said that they sold less each gen EXCEPT for Wii/DS. That's not what I would call people branching out XDDD. I don't see what's "factual" about that statement, but hey. It isn't true that Sony consoles sell more each gen, PS3 sold less than PS2 and we don't know yet about PS4. So that's an anomaly too? What I'm trying to say is we have absolutely no idea if Nintendo could repeat that sucess again, and we don't know it MS or Sony will mantain their fandom, so let's wait. Gaming world change a lot, we actually know that.
