Forums - Nintendo - Devil's Third feedback from Japan are...good ?

Japan is a strange place.

It's more the fact that Amazon Japan is a strange place. It's either people are just reviewing poorly to be trolls or they're rating games way too high because they're biased. So, it's kind of like Metacritic in that sense.

For example, a number of Xenoblade X reviews were done by people who didn't even own the game and were just using Google Translate to falsify negative claims about the game.

I'll pick this up at some point. Will wait for the price to drop a bit though. Looks like it could be alright.

Is that so? Can you read Japanese?

No, Tachi's the one that discovered that. I was pretty surprised.

If this game does well in Japan that it will be a bigger surprise than Splatoon. And Splatoon was a huge surprise!

Wow Devil Third got rated higher than Xenoblade X? Well then

I knew it was going to be better than Xenoblade X. Game of the Year!

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

On a related note, Fallout 4 on Amazon has 8 5-star reviews and 1 1-star review.

Is that good or bad? Someone tell me.

The thing is, Fallout 4 isn't out until November.

That means, so far, we have 9 people reviewing a game they haven't played.  8 people are giving it 5-stars because they want it to be 5-stars and one person is giving it 1-star because they have a urinary tract infection (maybe).

In other words, I'd trust fortune telling with chicken bones before I'd trust an average of user scores on Amazon.

which is pretty weird, you can't provide rating on amazon sites if it is just a pre-order. Is it really possible in amazon.jp? or it is just someone trolling?

It was also rated higher than Bloodborne, Dragon Quest Heroes, The Witcher 3 and Mario Kart 8.

Japan is a strange place.

I understand it could be higher than Bloodbourne, TW3 and maybe XCX.  But DQH and and MK8 where it is really has strong community.  User reviews are really just specific for those people who wanted to put ratings and reviews on a product.  We don't know the % in japan on how many consumers really rate products. I know it is just a small %.

Probably just an error that allowed it to happen, though I have seen the same thing before.  My point is, human beings aren't really trustworthy.  User scores should never be taken at face value, especially with a small sample size.
