Parents often check in on their kids especially when they work very late. WHich is a majority of people in the fast food industry for example.

Of course, you love Xbox no? So you by nature will not trust anything that disparages the brand. I was shocked by the news myself. However better to be safe then sorry. Do yourself a favor and at least keep the disc tray turned away from you.

No, judging by other stories on that site I don't see how you can put any trust in this article. Also I highly doubt the Xbox disc tray is even capable of spining a disc at a high enough speed to slit somebodies throat.

Foul play seems more likely.  Perhaps his mother was a Playstation fan.  I hope they question her closely.
