Forums - Sony - Boycott PS4 Rise of the Tomb Raider Holiday 2016

Boycott Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4.  Also, my feeling is that PS4 version won't be optimized for the PS4, and Square Enix probably will not be allowed to release a PS4 version that runs superior to the timed exclusive Xbox1 version.

The Tomb Raider 2013 version didn't do as well on either xbox360 (1.86 million) or xbox1 (0.35 million) compared to either PS3 (2.42 million) or PS4 (0.93 million).  Square Enix is turning their back against the PS fan base, and this will probably not work out well for them.  I don't understand how Square Enix think they can grow the Tomb Raider franchise by going timed exclusive with the console that don't have much history with the Tomb Raider franchise.

The Xbox1 Rise of the Tomb Raider may bomb this holiday.  The Xbox1 version is already going against stiff competition.   It's set to release Nov 10 against Fallout 4, andnd it's sandwiched between likely monster sellers Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront.  And not to mention the Xbox1 exclusive Halo 5 that is released 2 weeks prior.  Even if it wasn't a timed exclusive and also was coming out for PS4, I probably still wouldn't get this game.  Too many other games.  Once I start Fallout 4, that goes couple of months for me.

Oct 27:  Halo 5 Guardians

Nov 6:  Black Ops 3

Nov 10:  Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider

Nov 17:  Star Wars Battlefront

I'm defintely not getting the PS4 version.  If it goes on sale on steam (Tomb Raider 2013 regularly goes on sale less than $5), then I may get it on PC.

I will be getting it on pc since its coming out earlier anyways and its my prefered platform so I guess I m boycotting it in that sense loll

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I will get it if it comes with all DLC.

Any boycott by the core gaming community won't make much difference in the overall market either. I think this deal has probably worked out fine for SE, I think MS come off the worst out of the two.

no.

in fact i'll pre-order this one.

Are you serious? The game could well flop on its own anyway without you telling people to boycott it ._. I'll maybe get it in 2017 on PS4 if it's cheap or if its on sale on PC.

You must be new to gaming if you think the PS4 version wont be the best version coming out 1 year later. They optimize it to the fullest, with all the added dlc to attract people to buy it. Not the other way around.

If you like tomb raider games, then there is absolutely no reason not to get it.

I'm always in two mind about things like this. On one hand I instinctively want to agree and do my bit to punish greedy publishers, but on the other hand I realise that if everyone followed suit the franchise would be dead on the platform I support. Do we punish SE or prove they made the wrong move by showing them it's better to release on the PS4? Is the future more important than the present in terms of support? I haven't got the answer to that ... but I'm going with my gut I think.

The PS5 Exists.

I loved the previous game, I see no reason to boycott it
