I liked Kill La Kill more, I'm not really into mecha. Also the end of Gurren really pissed me off.

Gurren Laggan by a long shot (and I really like Kill la Kill).

They kept mixing it up so it rarely stagnated, and they continually grew in strength and size by orders of magnitude.
