Forums - Gaming - When will come the resale of digital copies ?

I have been reselling my digital PS4 purchases since console's launch.
I find it a much easier process than buying and reselling discs, because I never have to deal with postage or damaged goods, and the playments are instant and secure, plus the games do not decrease in value much.
That is one of the biggest reasons why I'm almost 100% digital this generation.

Would be pretty cool to be able to sell steam licenses to third party vendors.

2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I think it will happen eventually but it will have to be done in such a way that it makes the publishers happy. Most likely by giving them a cut of the resale

Yup, I'd say up to 50% of the total price would go to pubs and platform holders (Sony/MS/Ninty). Maybe publishers get 40% and console holders get 10%.

That's how much it has to be for it to be viable

It won't but XBL and PSN MUST implement digital refunds under the same conditions as Steam. PSN and XBL are criminally expensive market places for games and no refund policy makes it impossible for me to buy games digitally unless I am absolutely certain I am going to like it. All my digital games, except for past gen remakes that I've played before, are from PSN+ monthly "free" games. I would never have bought those PSN+ games, just too risky that I will pay good money and end up not liking the game. With PSN+ there's still the risk of the games being bad, but over the course of a year you are all but guaranteed to get your money's worth in games you actually like. Same goes for GWG no doubt.

Yes I agree with this. On PSN publishers have no competition and can set the price they want, often twice more for old games, than the usual Amazon price.

Most AAA third party games are usually sold at 70€ on EU PSN.

Buy every game on a separate account, then sell the account.

I thought about that, but seems like quite a bit of hassal, and of course I still mostly buy physical, so traditional re-sale methods remain available to me if I want to use them. Of course if this becomes a somewhat widespread thing we're going to see accounts be permanently linked to hardware. Or some other measure to stop the unofficial digital game secondary market. Good on you for doing it while you can.

You can play all games on your regular account, you just need to activate the purchasing account as primary on the console.
