When you really love a franchise it's rather common to want to understand the bigger picture and really dive into the lore. I've rather enjoyed watching them try to piece this franchise's history into something coherent as, despite liking what they've come up with, it's obvious as heck that there was never a real plan in place and they've been retroactively forcing them into a rather complicated timeline at this point.
Zelda is a little unique in that it manages to offer large worlds for exploring and fairly grand adventures, but it has done so with very little story again and again. Miyamoto has made it pretty dang clear that his priorities are exploration and fun over story. There's just not a lot of information to work with relative to the number of releases.
I imagine they're still trying to figure out which of their three timelines this installment would least conflict with before they shove it on in there lol
Lore aside, I'm really looking forward to this game. I was initially skeptical but it actually looks like a lot of fun; I just hope there's enough competent players online to play it!
