Quick disclaimer, this is all my opinion, not to be taken as concrete fact. If you don't think something should be where it is feel free to voice why below! Now to get on with this likely unnecessarily long wall of text! *Finishes writing everything* Ha, I was right!
#10. Point Sensor
Heh, yeah, this probably wasn't a surprise. The obvious issue with the Point Sensor is that you have to know where the enemy is already to use it, thus defeating it's purpose of telling you where the enemy is unlike the vastly superior Echolocator. Helps against Stealth Swimmers and let's your allies know an enemy has been spotted, but that's about it. Thankfully it's not on that many weapons.
#9. Disruptor
Now this is definitely better than the Point Sensor, as it also let's you see where the enemies are in the ink, hence countering Stealth Swim, while also greatly hindering their mobility and ink refil rate, making foes more vulnerable. Another thing that I should mention is that both it and the Point Sensor take less ink to use than most other sub weapons. Still not that great though so I don't end up using it much.
#8. Ink Mine
"Placing Claymore!" Like in that game, Ink Mines are good for defending territory and popular spots such as the Central Tower in Blackbelly Skatepark. Can help when your being chased as the enemy might be too busy shooting at you to notice what they've stepped on in time. Also noteworthy is how it only takes half a tank to use unlike the other instant kill bombs. My main issue with it though is that it's not really helpful in a direct firefight and doesn't compliment the weapons it's paired with too well, namely the Luna Blaster and the gold Areospray and their lack of range.
#7. Sprinkler
Pretty simple use, just spreads ink, so obviously good in a game all about spreading ink. The feeling when you get a kill with this little thing is priceless! That moment when you put it high up on the ceiling against a team with minimal range is just rich! Doesn't get immediate results and takes a lot of ink to use though, so not useful in a firefight, which is a pretty important factor to me as I like having different combat options to make me more versatile. The sprinkler for the most part it just spreads ink, which every weapon can do already, and it's not even available on the Blasters which are the worst ink spreaders.
#6. Seeker
Okay so I have like never used this thing lel. Hey it's literally only on two weapons, neither of which I care much for. I've seen it in action plenty of times so I can still rate it! Obviously the thing is pretty good, having essentially the longest range of any sub weapon that can even lock on to targets with a direct hit instant killing, but it's movement is not too fast and pretty linear making it readily avoidable. It can also forge a path for you to follow to quickly get places. I know it takes a lot of ink to use and has a bit of startup lag, but as long as you're just out of enemy range when you use it you should be fine.
#5. Squid Beacon
For when your teammates are always in bad positions and don't even try to cover your jump! Correct placement of these things help lessen the consequences from dying and help you get from one hotspot to the next. This goes for everyone on your team, and I like being a team player. If we could just this and Echolocator in the same set I'd be golden! Heh, anywhos, the Squid Beacon can also be used as a psuedo Splash Wall as your shots go through it while the enemy's do not. Previously only available on the Krak-On Roller, it's now on quite a few weapons so that's good. Also, I heard placing a Squid Beacon on the spawn point is a pro strat, no lie!
#4. Suction Bomb
Basically the same as the Splat Bomb, so obviously great considering where the aforementioned is on this list, although it takes longer to explode. Still good for forcing enemies to move from behind cover or high perches, but because the explosion is delayed especially since you can't roll it on the ground and it floats more in the air, it's not that great at mid to close range where you don't have much time before you die. Most weapons with Suction Bombs like the Splat Roller and Tentatek Splattershot are already good at close combat so no issue there, but for the Rapid Blaster Deco it leaves a lot to be desired. Oh, and it's advantage over the Splat Bomb is supposed to be that it can stick onto stuff, but I find that's not really useful for much except placing it in a place the enemy might not notice it in.
#3. Splash Wall
True to it's name, it's a wall that you can shoot through but the enemy cannot, so it gives you and your team the advantage in firefights. Helps you approach longer ranged enemy's or cut off advancing foes, making it great in most combat situations. Heck you can even block off narrow passageways entirely with it. Not that I'm encouraging it, but yeah it's also a nasty spawn camping tool hehe. Oh and if you're that good throwing it right on top of an enemy will insta kill them. Unfortunately it can't be used to insta kill if placed right where an enemy is jumping to, they just get pushed out, but no big deal. I haven't actually used this thing in a while though since there's only like two weapons that even have it for some reason. Fix that Nintendo!
#2. Splat Bomb
Simply the most versatile sub weapon that compliments pretty much any main weapon. Can be used against enemys at a distance potentially further than your main weapon can reach, can hit those behind cover or high up, can be rolled a short distance to thwart enemys charging right at you, just does it all really, nuff said!
#1. Burst Bomb
Yes that is correct yal, Burst Bombs are my absolute favorite sub weapon! "But Dolphin, Burst Bombs are lame, they're so underwhelming!" I also thought as much, until that one session where I decided to use burst bombs only, both to get better with them and for the lolz, which caused me to actually start using them, where I eventually discovered how freaking fun and amazing they can be! Firstly they have similar uses to Splat Bombs, namely attacking enemy's who're behind cover, and how it's explosions have a bit of knockback, thus it can throw off people's aim and slow their approach. So it's already good n versatile, but what brought Burst Bombs over the top for me was this completely new attack strategy I discovered unique only to it and no other weapon! Being able to attack the enemy while still moving freely in the ink, that would be an ideal way to fight, as you heal, refil, and move faster while also being harder to hit and keep track of. Well that's exactly what this strategy involves! I literally swim circles around my opponent, only ever popping up for a second to throw a burst bomb at em, which not only deals damage but also spreads ink for me to continue swimming in! Doing this has been so fun and so effective! Many kills were obtained this way, and it really expands the weapon set's versatility, as now the Custom Jet Squelcher and E-Liter 3k have both long-range and short-range covered! Essentially two vastly different playstyles in one weapon!
Damn that turned out to be longer than I thought! Well if you actually read it all, what do ya think? Agree or disagree!? Let me know... or else!
