Sony Bundles Bloodborne with PS4 Consoles in Japan

Today Sony Computer Entertainment announced that starting on July 16th, the biggest retailers in Japan will provide a downloadable copy of Bloodborne at no additional cost, with every purchase of a new PS4.

The campaign will end in September, and most big name retailers are involved, including Sofmap, Yodobashi Camera, Tsutaya, Edion, Joshin and more.

We’ll have to see if this initiative will further boost sales of Sony’s home console in Japan. The game definitely adds value to the purchase.

The PS5 Exists.

I'm sure they'll figure out the key to moving PS4's in Japan eventually. I don't think the problem is really value though. I think Japanese people are just waiting on more noteworthy Japanese games that aren't also being released on last gen hardware. In that respect, this Bloodborne bundle may help move some consoles, but I don't think it will lead to a noteworthy increase that Sony is probably hoping for.

Konami really need to delay mgsv last gen in Japan to help ps4 out a little

I remember a poll that was done and around 70% of the Japanese public thought the PS4 was either the right price or too cheap. So I don't think value is the problem.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Just wait til the Final Fantasys start rolling out.

Does all those bundle means they are really not going for the price cut??

Free game is always nice, but personally I'd prefer a price cut instead.

It should help sales and maybe even bring more fans into the souls series. The will always be a lot waiting for the cycle of Japanese games to end on PS3 before purchasing which will always go several years into a new gen, q3/q4 2016 is when it will pick up good speed imo.

Considering the 5-6 months after launch month PS4 spent most of that time selling 5k-8k a week in Japan and if this helps them keep 12k-15k a week during the summer that's fine.

The sales boosted this year when there was game after game getting released from late Feb to end of March with God Eater 2/The Order/DoA5 followed by Dragon Quest Heroes then Yakuza, FF Type:0 and into Bloodborne. Japan just needs more game chains like this to push sales. Some of these were previous gen and outsold the PS4 version but also pushed some to buy the PS4.

I think this is just an attempt to keep some momentum between now and MSGV, its going to be a try spell for the next 6 weeks I think

Between now and september

Still potential for a price cut to be announced at TGS or during Paris games week in late October (which would make most sense)
