Don't know what you are confused about. Some people had no opinion on the story, and some people might've thought it was okay (neither good nor bad), hence other. The majority thought the branching storyline was good, though.

That graph is the only time I've heard Xeno X's story referred to as a "branching" one. Does it truly branch, or is that a mistake or mistranslation? Is the fact that it branches (or the way in which it does so) considered a spoiler? There are the different Unions, but I don't recall any of the promotional materials ever stating that they lead to a branching storyline. Just different perks.

From what I gather the ending is the same for everybody. There are just many paths you can take until then (and in a different order.)

Bayonetta 1 & 2.
That has good story telling in it.

I wonder why it took someone so long to mention it in this thread, esp considering how few Wii U games are actually like that.

Probably just because Bayonetta has one of the worst stories in the history of fiction.

I'd say the story of both games is decent, I don't have particular issues with it.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

if you want games with big drawn out stories, get a ps4 or x1. wii u is mainly about gameplay and having fun.

Pretty much this. The Wii U is there for things we can't do in real life, like having fun outside the house. Stories you can just find in a library or movie theater.

exactly.

also, its not that im against story driven games, its just not my cup of tea personally. and its not something that you're really going to find on the wii u. its always gameplay first and foremost.

SMT x FE is probably your best bet for the future.

I don't think I have one Wii U game I can say had a story I was truly engrossed in. Any suggestions? It doesn't even have to be exclusive necessarily, just wanting a good story to experience on Wii U, that's all.

I would say...

Mass Effect 3

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The Wonderful 101

Batman: Arkham Origins (like the plot more than City)

If your looking for some plot in your games on the WII U then refer to Xenoblade Chronicles X in the future ...

Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii has an amazing story, which can be played on your Wii U. So that counts I guess
