Mine were ecstatic when we bought the Wii U and don't seem to even care to turn on the PS4. Then again they are 9 and 10. If they were older I'm not sure. It would probably be the same scenario as the kid who parents screw up and get a PSVita instead of 3DS

If I had a kid - Nintendo would be the console of choice. There is only one family and kids friendly console out there: the Wii U.
What is often easily overseen is that titles like Art Academy go far beyond what "normal" games offer...
The Wii U is a console made for children so he's probably be happy with it until he grew up.
A kid being dissapointed to get any console doesnt deserve it. I dont have kids but if i got any special treatment like that as a kid id be flipping off the walls from excitement. My bro and i were only able to buy video games if we made the money ourselves.
Wii u might not be my first console of choice but it would be if i had a kid. Would also give me the excuse to have that and my ps4 :D
