I thought this rumor was knocked down because it said that Nintendo wanted to produce 20 million, which is ludicrous, because the wii U only sold about 4 million it's first year. Hell it took Sony more than a year to hit that with the ps4.

That rumour is for producing of new Wii U consoles only in 2015, we dont know how many Wii U console Nintendo already have in stock, so this rumour means nothing.

If the rumor is true, i'm not so sure it's the smart decision. 2016 will be a year of stride for both Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo would have to come out with big guns in order to steal away the ridiculous momentum that will no doubt be taking customers money.

I think that is sales rather than production. I don't think they manufactured any wii u consoles for a long time. The white wii u stopped production ages ago but we still see them in retail in the UK and other wii u bundles appeared to be re-packaged product rather than new product as the wii u manufacturing date was older. 12 million approx may actually be the combined number of wii u's sold, stock at retail and stock that Nintendo still has in warehouses.

Digitimes have sources with manufacturers so based on that they talking about numbers of device that will be produced in future, also in article they talked about production numbers for NX so we can assume they also talked about production of Wii U too.

Abou that that they dont manufactured any wii u consoles for a long time:

Yeah this does sound like a woefully familiar article. Still agree though, 2016 does seem most logical from what I've read

This are the same two rumors that we heard not long ago.

And wccftech is not a reliable source, it's a site that just write about any rumor floating around without. Of course that means that they always end up writing something true, but it's hard to find that true among the rest of the junk they usually put.

Makes sense for a handheld.
