Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 'World of Tanks' on Xbox One won't put 360 players at disadvantage

Cross platform play is up and working great, The Xbox One version plays really smooth, looks great and controls better than it's 360 counterpart.  Cross playform play is going to be massive for MS, I think this has added a whole new element to online gaming. First impressions are impressive, nicely done Xbox.

"World of Tanks started off as a PC game that was later ported by Wargaming to the Xbox 360 for console fans. This free-to-play title has seen much success since doing this, and will soon be available for Microsoft’s newer Xbox One console. However, this version will offer more and some of this will actually carry over to the Xbox 360 version. While speaking with Associate Producer Brian Willitts at E3, he confirmed that the faster console would not offer an unfair advantage over the previous console version. What really comes into play will be the cross-platform elements involved between the two systems.

The release date for the Xbox One version was confirmed for July 28th. There will be a free download program that offers a rare premium tank for play on July 10th. More importantly, this week starting July 12th there will be a free open beta weekend for Xbox One users to check out the game. The final version will offer a PvE mode that will allow newcomers to practice against A.I. or veterans to experiment and further master the battlefield. The Xbox 360 version will also get the PvE mode on the scheduled release date.

In the attempt to not limit the amount of players playing World of Tanks in the Xbox Universe, the game will officially be cross-platform compatible between the two Xbox’s. This will also include cross-platform chat between the two. The game will not run any faster on the Xbox One, but simply have better visuals and effects and also integrate the features of the system itself, such as one touch Twitch streaming. The two versions are balanced as the collision models and in-game mechanics are identical. Having seen the gameplay on the Xbox One at E3, the visuals are much improved with better lighting, textures, draw distance, and reflections. This will be made available to everyone on July 28th. Stay tuned for more information involving World of Tanks."

Why they hatin' on Xbox Elite controller?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Which is it? Controls better with better draw distance OR won't put 360 players at a disadvantage. Can't be both...

Not like it's massively better, it just seems smoother.

They should give it keyboard and mouse support. It's horrible to aim with a controller on the PC version. Never played it on xbox though.

If they did that there would be a disadvantage.

Anyhow, I dont understand the appeal of this game but Im surprised it has cross play. It must be a popular 360 game.
