Forums - General - The US dollar has fallen below the Swiss Franc for the first time ever.

the hehe's arent really necessary

i had typed out a long post about how low dollar or not we still have more guns/bombs then anyone but scrapped that idea when I realized the US will snap out of this soon. only 312 days before Bush is gone.

the "dollar standard" is still intact, although perhaps this is the first time we've seen the dollar being challenged. i sure hope it holds up--i don't want to pay higher mortgages for one--and also i sure don't want to see the world economy all messed up.

after all, there's nothing that can replace the dollar. euro is the closest alternative, but it's not anywhere close to being as universal as the dollar and it's got its own set of problems. i'm not saying that the dollar can be the world's currency forever, but going out in this fashion probably isn't what people had in mind. certainly not when many of the future big economies, such as china, aren't ready for it yet.

is the dollar standard really gonna go away this quickly? again, i hope not.

i'm not sure what steven787 is talking about. you could be misinformed, but maybe i just misunderstood what you're saying. anyway.

the Wii is an epidemic.

well, you might have figured that nothing wont change in the amount. only if they were earning Euros would it have any effect.

"well, you might have figured that nothing wont change in the amount. only if they were earning Euros would it have any effect."

wth are you talking about? that made no sense, and nice use of a double negative

@dgm: well you might be able to figure that out all by yourself. just use the power of thinking.

your double negative makes trying to think it out impossible. plus you didnt even reference what "amount" you are talking about. who mentioned anything about earning euros?

you're not very good at being a smart ass - and that one didnt take much thinking.

i think what you said was, everything will change in the amount of days left in the Bush's administration, if only they were earning Euros

Do I have to be the first to use the "R" word?

Yeah, it's ok for us. It makes import really interesting.

The Australian dollar is close too.

When will this affect the prices in the US? Will the prices of games consoles in the US go up because of this?

Anyone who is from the US, do you Salaries go up because of this? It would really suck if you guys are working for peanuts because of sh*tty exchange rates.

Just put it this way, at the moment you cannot earn less than $11.21 an hour in the UK. Anything below $11.21 per hour is seen as slavery and is illegal in UK.
