It's worth noting that while a deal like this can reduce the potential long-term profitability of a game because of 'lost' sales, it can also dramatically reduce the risk involved (or even completely mitigate it if Sony gave them more than the developer's total investment in the project, which i'd guess was the case here). That alone can make such deals very appealing.

Regardless, without knowing how much it would have sold without the PS+ edition (or how many copies the developer was hoping to sell), there's not much point in a debate like this. We don't have the details we'd need to make any kind of guess at the worth of the deal to both parties.

I'm about to plat this game! It's a LOT of fun, really surprised by it. Certainly a contender for the GOTY. Maybe even GOTG.

I just downloaded it but haven't had time to give it a go just yet. Pretty stoked though!

I wouldn't go that far, but between this and Splatoon (my GOTG), they seem to be the only truly new and unique games we have had in a LOOOOONG time.

The game so amazing! Having it on PS+ was a good idea because I doubt anything like 1.2 million people were going to spend $20 on this, even if just out of ignorance.

Now, a ton of people have access to the game, and lots of them will likely be buying at least some of the DLC.

The game is AWESOME, tons of FUN just the perfect game to waste an entire day if you have nothing to do.
