What's this sudden fascination with BC?

Well its always been a big request. Most people dont use it, but millions did on previous Playstation consoles.

I'm more curious why some Sony fans downplay BC as a great feature.

The last time "millions" of people used BC on a previous PlayStation console was with the PS2. Sales of the PS3 soared when they axed BC to make it cheaper.

BC never has been and will never be the deciding factor for why anyone buys a new console. And it's nowhere near as important as some might like to think.

Don't take my word for it though. Let's see how much BC improves the sales of he xb1.

F-no.
I would prefer to get a PS3 and PS4 separately.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

I own a PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4, always play my games on the consoles they were made for, screw backwards compatibility.

In a fucking HEART BE-
*Remembers that PS+ is mandatory now*

Nope.

Yes I would... by trading in a PS4 for one that is BC, would be a win win for me and Sony. Unless like spemanig said, PS+ being necessary to access online for the PS3 games. Then no, since who wants to pay for the internet twice.

Around the Network

Nah. that would mean no use for my beloved JP satin silver PS3.

Yeah, like it happened before. Many would say yes but then, when the price is $500-600 they all complain that it is too expensive.

The PS3 started selling big numbers after Sony dropped the b/c, reducing the price.

Tech demos? lol. They dont make real games its self explenatory. Ryse son of rome looks worse than bloodborne, the order, imfamious, killzone, driveclub and knack. All these games look vissually more impressive or the engine is offering more stuff than Ryse.

Did you seriously just place Ryse as less visually impressive than Infamous, Knack and especially Bloodborne ?! While SIGGRAPH was awarding Ryse, From Software was making Bloodborne look like some mid gen game with framerate issues ...

Newsflash, what you just listed doesn't come close to the technology their pushing and they've made real games before like it or not ...

Last guardian runs at 15 frames at worst with the cell the footage is showing, there is more than enough performance if you remove all the other stuff besides the birth or the leafs.

Tachikoma has LITERALLY stated that The Last Guardian was running in SINGLE DIGITS! No moderate downgrades would've even made the game playable! The Cell processor is clearly trash since it had to leave it's new brother (PS4) to deliver the long awaited hype behind that game ...

Sony removed it because third party devolopers are lazy. Games like MGS4 in 2008 looks better than the majority of gamnes coming out now for x86 systems and thgat game run on a cell.

MGS4 looks better than the majority of games coming out now ? MGS4 looks like junk by today's AAA standards and even indie games are crapping all over it in when it comes to graphics!

Third party developers are lazy ? Who are you to claim that their lazy when you yourself are not a developer ? Just how much untruths are you going to keep spreading about the Cell processor ?

Ryse lacks anything special, no big monsters, no fure and most importantley no particle effects

MGS 4 looks like an indie game lol true

Uh... safe bet millions of people played PS1 and/or PS2 games on PS3 thanks to the PSN store offering so many. Sony has even given them "free" to PS+ members.

BC has absolutely been a deciding factory when buying a console. You must know your statment was ignorant. The only debate is how much impact it has.

I'm not saying X1 is going to get a massive sales boost thanks to BC. I'm simply saying millions of people will use it. Especially if developers keep giving 360 games with new X1 games.

Hence, you only feel BC matters if it sells a ton of hardware. I'm simply saying BC is a great feature to have and millions will take advantage of it on X1.

Sounds like bad optimization.

I played Battlefield 4 on PS3, it was pretty impressive. But PS3 can't handle Last Guardian? I dunno...

The trailer footage of Last Guardian looked like a polished PS3 game. PS360 are more capable machines then they are given credit for.
