Regardless of this, I have high hopes for next gen. I expect Hyrule Warriors 2 and maybe Link's Crossbow Training 2 as much for the spin-offs, but also at least 2 new big ambitious Zelda games, alongside 2 great ambitious Metroid games. Thinking about it, I wouldn't rule out a Metroid game in development right now but moved to NX.

Uh, that's not really a fair comparaison at all. I mean, there is more than 5 differents kind of games for the Mario list, Kart racing, RPG, Plateformer, Party Games, Tennis. On the Zelda side, it's always the same style, action-adventure games, and one musou.

And Mario sells more games than Link. A lot more.

Good. Now you have basically proved my point. This is a lot for the Zelda universe. It's time for someone to step up and do a favor to the franchise.

In my opinion, this should have been better:

Ocarina of Time (3DS) 2011 - Grezzo

A Link Between Worlds (3DS) 2013 - Grezzo+Nintendo

Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) 2014 - Tecmo+Nintendo

Zelda HD (Wii U) 2015 - Nintendo

Triforce Heroes (3DS) 2016 - Grezzo

Erm, Grezzo is too small to make so many games...

The only redundant Zelda games this gen have been Hyrule Warriors and Triforce Heroes. All the others were of high quality.

Grezzo did Ocarina of Time 3D. Rather than MM3d, a remake that could have come next gen, they could have aid in the ALBW game in order to gain experience and do Triforce Heroes.

I am a new Nintendo fan, I decided to buy my first Nintendo system (3DS) after I played the OG Zelda on NES at a friends house. I never played the classic Zelda games, so I am happy for the remakes (I don't care for Hyrule Warriors and Triforce Heroes). Without Ocarina & Majora 3D I would be forced to pay X amount of dollars to buy N64 and those games. I rather play the updated version than the old ones. A Link Between Worlds is for me, what A Link to the Past was for the others that grew up on SNES games. Windwaker HD will be my first copy of that game and I can't wait to pick it up when I get a Wii U.

Your OP comes off as elitistic. These remakes saved me money.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

Metroid fans should be happy that they get something.

After seeing the sales numbers of Wii Prime Trilogy and Other M they should buy Federation Force in drones !!

And : Triforce Heroes will be great. No doubts about that. From the first moment I saw it it was clear to me that THIS was THE GAME of E3 2016.

Anyway: thanks for pointing out how fine Nintendos support for Zelda fans is. Everybody new to the series should buy a New 3DS which is the ultimate Zelda machine so far...

Yep. A Link to the Past is "pain in the ass". It is the ONLY Zelda game I never finished - in fact i'm not even half through because of one Boss impossible to beat.

Congrats to you for buying a 3DS - its the ultimate Zelda machine.

I bought a New 3DS system to be able to play OoT (which I didn't buy on the Wii VC when it was available).

The next Zeldas on there were Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I can recommend both - only STs end boss is a bit lacking and nerve wrecking. But maybe its just me - as the nerve wrecking part is of the same boss type which made me quit LttP ...

And YES: BUY A WII U !! There you can play not only WindWaker HD - which I love because it is way better than the original thanks to the GamePad - but also both Wii Zeldas: Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. The latter one will make you wanting every 3D Zelda to use motion controls

BTW: if you like OoT and the fighting parts of Zelda - give the Metroid Prime Trilogy a try. Its like Zelda in space. And with the Wii VC release on the Wii U a bargain like nothing else...

Actually, the Wii U is the best Zelda Machine, you can play on it Zelda 1, 2, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and soon you will be able to play Zelda U, and probably Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

People just want the a mainline Metroid Prime game and they got a spinoff.. so people are mad

No. No.

We are talking about Metroid fans ! So there are at least TWO fractions. One who wants a 2D Metroid and the OTHER ONE wants a 3D Metroid Prime.

2.5D Metroid Other M doesn't seem to have that many fans

So - Nintendo could make what they want - people will be mad...

And I wouldn't be surprised at all if the different Metroid fractions are blaming each other for bad sales numbers of "their" Metroid type of games...

BTW: THATS a huge difference to Zelda fans.

ZELDA FANS ARE A UNITY whears METROID FANS ARE DIVIDED.

The thing is about Zelda is that each game is Link is just a reincarnation of a past hero. As for Hyrule warriors, helping them out with planning and discussion stuff and spending a little time showing them something is not them developing or taking away from development teams. Same with the 3DS version as this is not Nintendo using the man power to make it, they may just give advice or show a thing or two. As for the remakes such as Majoras Mask and Ocarina of Time, there would have been a lot of people that maybe never go to play those games so you'll get both people who get a new experience and love to relive old game but improved. For LBW... just because the world map has similarities, it does not mean same game or anything. The two are quite different... especially Lorule vs Hyrule Dark World. but Dungeons are different, story is different, item mechanics and how you obtain them is different. The only thing that is similar is the map and it even has slight differences.

The only one where I can see your point valid would be Triforce Heroes but we still have yet to learn everything about it and why there are 3 "Links". It could be similar to Four Swords.

I would like to point out that the OOT remake, the Majora's Mask remake, and Hyrule Warriors were all outsourced, so those games took very little of Nintendo's time. Most of the would-be developers of Metroid games at Nintendo have been busy with non-Zelda projects. This Metroid spinoff is being made by Next Level games, a company who only recently became a second party developer.

That being said, I really don't see a link between the Zelda spinoffs and this new Metroid spinoff. I'm sure the project exists because Next Level wanted to do something with the Metroid franchise but Nintendo didn't want to hand them the main franchise until they could prove their worth with a spinoff.

HOW can you play MM on a Wii U without falling back to the Wii VC title which isn't on sale anymore?

I also would like to say that it is a BIG DIFFERENCE in playing titles like Ocarine of Time on a TV or on the 3DS in 3D .

For me these titles are perfect on a 3DS as you as the gamer have a little "treasure box" to look into. The ability to pause EVERY game at any time by closing the 3DSs lid is also a big plus for Zelda titles.

And last but not least: is there ANY BETTER WAY to play a Zelda then with a TRIFORCE or MAJORAS MASK FACEPLATE (oh yeah - I'm european )... .

But anyway: best thing is to have BOTH - 3DS AND Wii U
