Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft dropping the name 'Xbox' from more things (Xbox Music, Xbox Video)

They had a survey where people confused Xbox Music with a gaming related service. It doesn't make sense to have it named Xbox Music. Same with Video. Especially as they push Windows 10.

Or Idk they could be leaving the console market.

Sony is doing exacty the opposite, though. They just renamed "Video Unlimited" as "PlayStation Video" on Android (and else, I suppose).

I don't think this necessarily means anything bad for XB1's future, but it does show that MS isn't taking the Xbox brand as seriously anymore, and is reducing their investment into branching it out.

So what you're saying is MS isn't going to be the only console company to make this mistake.

Seems MS is de-emphasizing the Xbox brand. Not sure how anyone can conclude this is not a bad thing for the Xbox brand, but I do see how this rebranding will be a good thing for MS. Xbox brand is weakening and they are moving on.

But really, I don't understand why the Xbox name was attached to those sectors anyway. Doesn't really seem appropriate. It makes more sense now.
