I'm talking about this thing :

So I heard that this pad can be use instead of a controller pro on all the classic wii controller and Wii U controller pro compatible games. Is that true ? I'm asking this because the Wii U pro controller is a bit too expensive for me and I want to play Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros on co-op. Of course, I know that it has to be connected with a Wiimote, I have a few so that's not a problem.

Also, is it enough ergonomic ? If i want to play Bayonetta 2 with it for example, will it be a nightmare ?

The Hori controllers are the same as the Wii Classic Controllers but shaped like a GameCube controller.

They, however, are not Wii U Pro controllers so in the case for games like Hyrule Warriors, you cannot use the Hori controller. Games like Smash U and MK8 are compatible with classic controllers so that is when you can use the Hori controller

They look nice, and they could probably get the job done as a viable controller.

I'll never need it though, since I have a GC adapter.

this is connected through the wiimote. which means it works like a classic controller. so it would work on several Wii games plus Smash as well. :)

i have one. I actually like the fact that it has two shoulder buttons instead of the gc's 3. You will want to go into the settings and make some adjustments though. your throw is your shield and vice versa. It's also just a little bit bulky compared to a real cube contoller. If you couldn't get an adapter than this thing will serve you well. just realize that the sensitivity from melee to brawl to wiiu is definitely different. used to be alot easier to walk. don't know if that's because i only use the gc controller types or not. Might be different for gamepad i suppose.

Having dealt with Hori products in the past and being a writer for gaming gadgets, I can tell you that they are quite good. Slightly below the first party products, but superior than companies like Nyko, DreamGEAR and MadCatz. I would say give it a shot if you don't have the GameCube Controller. Otherwise, if you do, just buy the GameCube adaptor.

I own a luigi version. I like it more than gc controllers for smash, the sticks are just as good and having four digital shoulder buttons is awesome. But assuming you're not used to GC controllers and do not have any, I'd only recommend these if you're interested in Wii games. I've found it to be a lot worser than Wii U pro for bayonetta, and the compatibility for wii u games is low.
