This is great news but I feel like Nintendo should be building their own theme parks.

I think a whole Nintend park would be cool too, Pokemon section, Magic/Mushroom Kingdom Section, Mkart/Fzero racing rides, Zelda and Metroid sections, Animal Crossing cute kids ride part, etc.

but the reality is that Nintendo is a very frugal company and will never want to take on that sort of investment. I don't understand why they would not consider doing a trial park in like Japan because it would have like zero chance of failing but that's Nintendo, they are careful with their IPs and even more careful with their money

I'm so excited for this theme park my panties are wet. And yeah, I'm a dude.

Why? so Nintendo can go bankrupt? while Nintendo and Mario may be huge in gaming world they are tiny fish in the greater ocean of entertainment and theme parks.

From a business POV that would be very stupid to be honest. Theme parks are massively expensive. The new Disney park in Shanghai will cost almost $4.6 billion to make.

Given the choice between a Disney or Universal park and a Nintendo one, most people would probably choose Disney or Universal too.

Whereas working with Universal, Universal is actually probably the one paying Nintendo to do this. So that's a win-win.

I wished they'd have gone with Disney instead. There's no Universal park in Europe, at least Disney Paris would have been fairly close-by for me .

Mario, Peach, Bowser etc are very recognizable characters. Most people know who they are. In fact, I'd say Mario is up their with Mikey Mouse as one of the most well known entertainment characters ever. So if Disney started off with only Mickey Mouse but turned into a huge entertainment corporation, then I dont see why Nintendo can't do the same thing.

Well, Disney wouldn't ever make the Shanghai theme park if it wasn't going to be profitable. So although it's expensive, thme parks eventually do become profitable.

Great potential for megablast

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Disney theme parks are about more than just profit, they are a marketting division intended to maintain/boost their family image which they have spent the better part of a century careful grooming. I don't like disney, but nintendo are not in the same league as them, they aren't the huge bastards with the cutthroat mentality that disney has ingrained from being led by an utter bastard for half a century.
