Forums - Nintendo - Monolith Soft would help with Zelda U

Is it me, or does Nintendo make less of their own games than they did during the NES/SNES days?

During those days, there was no Retro Studios, Monolith, or NST. Also, games did not take as long to make and did not require as many resources. With games becoming increasingly more complex on both the handheld and console systems, forming extrnal studios and sometimes requiring their assistance makes sense.

During the NES/SNES days nintendo didnt need huge development teams for each game, like 30 people could work on one game and other 30 on something else, now these days there needs more and more manpower

EDIT:didnt see someone already posted the same thing

4 years and they need help. Seriously, what's wrong with Aonuma? They keep doing remakes and spin-offs rather than focusing on the things that matters and now they need, once again, Monolith's help, a studio that not only developed a great big open world game in the own, but also helped other teams.

Monolith>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>an abism >>>>>>>>>>Aonuma

Today we have found out that Monolith Soft were one of the teams to help Nintendo out with Splatoon.

We found this out weeks ago when people bought the game and beat it and saw Monolith Soft in the credits.

I am allowed to have my own criteria lol

Well under your criteria Hal Labs, GameFreak, and Rare would all have been considered not a part of Nintendo, so yes it's just you.

Also your criteria sucks.

There is a difference in being "a part of Nintendo" and being... Nintendo. I don't know why people have such a hard time differentiating between the two. Rare, for instance, wasn't even first party lol.

Yeah, for a moment there I had to second guess whether I was reading the same post twice lol

Well yes, the difference between a part and a whole is that the parts make up the whole. Monolith Soft and Retro are a part of Nintendo just as EAD and Intelligent Systems are a part of Nintendo.

My point in bringing up Rare was that they developed loads of games for Nintendo back in the NES/SNES days. Nintendo also had partners and satellites like Hal Labs and GameFreak making games even back in the 80s-90s. So my answer to your original question, "Is it me, or does Nintendo make less of their own games than they did during the NES/SNES days?" was that it is you. Even back in the NES/SNES days many of the games Nintendo published were developed by external studios.

In my opinion Monolith help out waaaay too much. They have helped with numerous other games.

Quite frankly they need to stop helping so Nintendo will understand the need to hire more staff to make more games and for Monolith to focus on making new games that dont take 4 years to release.
