Yeah, Nintendo is pulling the trigger on same sex marriages in one of their games. I don't know if this had anything to do with the Tomodachi Life contraversy they had last year, but it seems Nintendo is moving forward with an open mind.
As a straight man, I am very excited about this inclusion in their game mechanics. Not for reasons of political and social ease of turmoil that stems from the subject, but because its a sign of growth from a company that otherwise is known to be old and traditional. Believe me when I say I take no stance on the subject matter of homosexuality being a thing to care about. Rather, it is the untapped potential of where this is going from a Nintendo image stand point. They've more or less broken the seal of how they're looked at by the world as a simplistic videogame maker. For them to do this, it automatically informs the world their stance on the subject. And I know it's not supposed to be a big deal, being gay isn't a big deal, but it's nintendo doing it. Not only in some unknown IP, but Fire Emblem, which has in the recent years gathered a grove of new and existing fan base. Them doing this is like Sony and Microsoft letting AO rated games on their consoles(to some degree, not a perfect analogy).
So, what's your take on this? Any negatives that may arise from this game mechanic being introduced?
