You know what, at this point, I think Nintendo is just trolling us.

2D Metroid on Wii U confirmed? :P

I would buy a Wii U for that.  That or a 2D Zelda.

so basically they saw the bad reaction to Metroid and started to work on a proper one which will take 4/5 years but not mentioning it now (even if you just did) since it hasn't started yet!

One thing this will be the best metroid yet!

Switch!!!

Nintendo being Nintendo. a 20 second trailer of a core Metroid game would be fantastic even it would be tagged as Late 2016 game. as long as you build hype that would be great. but if it is really a 2017 or so, hype would die but look at the Last Guardian, people are still hype for it. :D

you dont need so long for a good 2d game if you have enough money to pay your workers.

So this means that the guys over at Nintendo are jerks? 'Cause it sure feels like it.

What it means is game development is very complicated and expensive and Nintendo can't snap their fingers and make all our dream games appear out of no where.

So instead of working on a true Metroid game, they work on a Metroid spin-off game even though they know fans would appreciate the former much more. Yep, I hear you they can't just make dream games appear out of no where since they're working on games their fans don't want.

if it is a 2D game to begin with. i think it should be across all games, need money and no. of developers per game.  Nintendo has how many employees compared to western developers, i think there is a thread about western devs against jap devs and why japanese took a long time to develop games...

Nintendo have western studios and partner with Platinum or so, but those are not big as Ubi or EA...

well  frozenbyte has 20 people, so 15 or so are realy working on trine 3.  that should be possible for nintendo too.

(and i personaly come around and club people like little seals if they are not happy with a 2dish metroid with trine like graphics.)

That wouldn't look good given Reggie's recent comments on showing games really early.

That would be news to the Prime director- He says he wants to make another Prime game but he has not been able to get the assets/resources to do so, that the next would be on NX (when/if there is one)

He also said "Three ends the trilogy" in the same article.

As well as "We've done a story based on the Hunters, and this time around we're doing a story on the Galactic Federation," he added, referring to his new 3DS game. "I would like to cross the two over in the future. And of course see a little more of Samus."

"So it was Sylux, another hunter from Metroid Prime Hunters at the end of Metroid Prime 3. Personally I'd like to create a story centring around Sylux and Samus," he said"

Ugh, if this is the "New direction" he wants to take Prime with a numbered series, give me Other M 2.

But he has said several times that Metroid Prime is a trilogy, and it has been told. So even if we get a "Prime game" I fear for what we actually get.

thanks for explaining
