Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo knows you want Metroid

Do you think this interview confirms there will be a new Metroid soon?

Totilo: “And I’m not… Next Level Games is making it, and I believe in them, because Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon is fantastic. Mr. Tanabe has overseen many a great game. I think the question for me, which is a little different than what I’ve seen from some of our readers, I’m not so convinced that this game is going to be bad just because it doesn’t look like what I want. But my curiosity is: Do they [Nintendo] know that people still want a Samus Aran adventure?

Fils-Aime: “Absolutely.”

Totilo: “I was surprised there was no messaging that said, ‘Don’t worry, we know you’re interested in this as well….’”

Fils-Aime: “Look, we know that the fans want a straight Samus Aran game. We also know that the best way to launch a game like that is to surprise and delight them, to give them a launch date, in an environment like this let them play it vs. what other companies do which is to announce a project that you may not see for five, six years. It’s just not the way we do things. We know the community wants to see a straight-up Metroid game. We know it.”

You know what, at this point, I think Nintendo is just trolling us.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I am sure they know a lot! So then why do they always go in the extreme opposite?

When you're right you're right. I wouldn't have been mad if EVERY game they showed this E3 wasn't a spinoff. They should have shown Metroid FF, but showed the real LoZ trailer. Or showed a real Metroid, and the 3 Sword Adventure game. Why did they show spin off after spin off after spin off? That's going to piss people off Reggie!

They know, they just don't care.

They know it but they don t want to spend the money when the can make another Mario game for less- short sighted business decisions are hurting Nintendo-

They need to evaluate the attraction and value of a console library as a whole in addition to game by game- there needs to be balance and re the Wii U the balance has been way to heavy on the game by game evaluation and very little on the library as a whole-

Reggie knows PR... its just empty speak, unless he comes out and says "one is in development",
I simply wont believe it isnt.

"Do you think this interview confirms there will be a new Metroid soon?"

hmm you may have a point

NINTENDO IF YOU ARE READING

1. We don't want a powerful console

2. We don't want third party support

3. We don't want new mature first party IPs

didn't the Metroid Prime Director already say there is not a Metroid game in development yet and that it would take min 3 years to make? So no- I do not think there is a Metroid in development now or will be avail anytime soon- not for a home console anyway
