Maybe, if they announce 3D Mario, 3D Zelda, Metroid and Super Smash Bros all this while Iwata fires Reggie in front of the public (and humiliates him).

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Because Zelda isn't all there is to Nintendo..? Dude. Last year we got lots of Smash megatons, the mindblowing first trailer for Zelda Wii U, two huge surprise announcements (Splatoon and Star Fox), some more surprise announcements in Mario Party, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Captain Toad... and lots of stuff on Yoshi's Woolly World and Xenoblade Chronicles X. And even more stuff I'm forgetting about right now. Zelda showing up at next year's E3 will be awesome, but it won't be a surprise in any way. Not only do we all know the game will be there, but we have also already seen it 2 years earlier and have been waiting since like, forever, for something we already have a decent idea of what will be. If Nintendo's 2016 E3 is basically the "Zelda show", I will be disappointed. |
Yes, but they delayed it for a year to enhance it's gameplay. Which means what we ultimately see may be something entirely new than the reveal trailer. (which was awesome). Also, we didn't see any gameplay, dungeons, or bosses at that E3. If they show an exploration trailer of the many ways dungeons are accessible, the actual fighting in the game, the main villain, the story, or any boss it still offers a LOT that could surprise us. I know we seen a little of the gameplay in that second direct, but even in that, little to nothing was shown about the mechanics of the game.
Next while Splatoon was a HUGE announcement, saying that Star Fox was coming and not showing anything of it wasn't really all that exciting. Smash had already been announced and shown off prior to that E3 and I think you are overestimating the importance of the announcements of Mario Party, Kirby, and Captain Toad (sure they are fun titles, but nothing mind blowing). E3 2011 I would say blew E3 2014 out of the water. True half the games they showed for the Wii U were gimped (Assassin's Creed, Call Of Duty) or never game out (Ghost Recon Online and Aliens Colonial Marines), but it brought hype! Add in Skyward Sword trailer with full orchestra in the background, a Zelda U tech demo, it was GREAT!

Pretty much this. Besides, what you are describing is a Zelda themed E3, and that won't happen. Will Zelda U be there? Sure, unless they have moved it into a NX launch title, but it will still be there. But forget about the Zelda demo for NX (who would buy the Zelda game after seein those graphics... that will never materialize in a proper game?), forget the imaginary Zelda Dungeon Maker and don't even get me started on that Zelda movie. |
People bought Skyward Sword and it was in the same E3 as Zelda Wii U tech Demo.

^This, if people can go on and on about the doom of Wii U, why can't we look on the possible up side of it? Next E3 has the makings to be a completely jaw dropping one from Nintendo.
| Pavolink said: It could be for sure... Unless Zelda HD gets a world scaled back, graphics are not as good as promised (E3 2014 teaser) and NX dissapoints. |
After delaying it a year, they damn well better not scale anything back without damn good reason.
From what I understand, the bar hasn't been set very high. The unanimous "best E3" for Nintendo is 2004, right? I think it can be beat.
The NX is not enough though. Neither is Zelda. If it's just a hardware win, it won't be. If they can drop some software bombs that aren't just Zelda, I think they could do it.
But what could beat the 2004 TP reveal that isn't Zelda? They could reveal Mario NX. They could announce a 3D Donkey Kong Planet, since it's pretty much confirmed that Retro hasn't been working on Prime all this time. (something I called)
They could tease Metroid Prime 4. They could actually announce Nintendo vs Capcom and Diddy Kong Racing Returns as the NX's parallels to the Wii U's Smash 4 and Mario Kart 8, since it will honestly be way to soon for NX iterations of those games. They could announce F-Zero, but you don't win E3 with F-Zero, no matter how good it is.
Or hey, they could even announce a real mainstream western exclusive. Probably not, though.
| mZuzek said: Also, yes, it is too early to think about it. If E3 was tomorrow, it would still be too early to think about it. At least here on VGC a week ago, most people seemed to think Sony's E3 was going to be meh at best, while everyone had high hopes for Nintendo's. You can't predict E3, because anything can happen. |
True, but the likelyhood of it is they are going to come out swinging. Just the things we can pretty much bank on being there (Zelda Wii U and Zelda NX tech demo) it could be one of their most impressive E3's ever.

Last year was very good.
