Forums - Nintendo - Hypothetical: What if Super Mario Maker is more of a success than we can predict?

What will be the biggest impact of Super Mario Maker?

The biggest hardware bump... 18 19.57%

It will delay the NX another year or two. 5 5.43%

It fill flop. 3 3.26%

It will be a decent bump ... 63 68.48%

3rd parties will return for Wii U! 3 3.26%

Total:92

I think we can safely agree that not one piece of software shown by nintendo is going to change the wii u's fortunes. Its hook line and sinker 14million Max LTD sales.

Minecraft lets you create massive structures--any shape or building you want. You can create your own world to hang out in with your friends, and you can all get together and build, and explore caves and fight monsters to boot. Mario Maker lets you build Mario levels. When you're done building a Mario level, you play a Mario level. I do think that people like to create, and this game has at least the potential to sell a good amount, but I can't compare it with the success of Minecraft. It's apples and oranges.

Yeah, I think LittleBigPlanet is the better comparison to Mario Maker than MineCraft.

21% think this will be a bigger boost than Mario kart 8 or Super Mario World 3D ?

Apple reality distortion field effect? This forum has alot of nintendo fans I know but.... 21%?

I seriously doubt its going to boost hardware sales, more than MK8 or SMW3D.
I dont even think it ll be close to that effect.

The 21% that think Mario Maker will cause a huge hardware increase are the same 21% that will be saying the Wii U will outsell the X box 1 for a solid year after the last Nintendo developed game is released on the Wii U and think Reggie is the most beleivable and sincere business exec in the industry

If Nintendo would just release a game called Denial, they would have a guaranteed 21% attach rate

I rather have a real mario game, made by developers, than some quick levels designed by fans.
I dont get all the hype for this title at all.

I agree.  This "game" is a glorified level editor, and should have been included as an extra in one of the New Super Mario games, or Mario All Stars.

They will just port it to 3DS. No reason to not to.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

The sales will be good, but I'm usually pessimistic about these things

Mario Maker will do nothing for sales at all, this is not going to be any kind of big Mario game release. Its a 2D level editor.

I don't say this to sound rude (ad many do) but it is startling how much ignorance is I'm your post. Of your logic was the case, something like mine craft would never have gotten even 1/20th of its size and people wouldn't demand for level editing features in games like mariokart and smash bros.

how much ignorance you have comparing Minecraft to a 2D level editor.

And yes people like level editing features, as part of their game. Not when a level editor is the game. This should of been part of a full blown 2D mario game, ala LBP.

Hypothetically we can predict an awfully big success and not hypothetically I expect someone to predict like 5 million sales by the end of the year or something a few weeks before release based on COMG points, Amazon rankings, and youtube views.
