From what I gathered, they are licensing the IP from Sega, like Nintendo's situation with Bayonetta 2. Sega likely gets an upfront royalty or roylaties per copy sold from the deal.

very vague details

the way they showcased at E3,i was in doubt if SEGA even owned the franchise

i think if SONY pumps in money then surely they will own atleast SHENMUE 3 as a game period like they do with METAL GEAR SOLID1,FINAL FANTASY 7,etc

It seems weird that a franchise that is so quintessentially associated with Sega has no mention of Sega anywhere online...

It's like if Nintendo announced Mega Man Legends 3 directed by Kenji Inafune but no one mentioned Capcom...
