I mean when I first heard about it was excited, but after playing it I realized, when I loose in Turf Wars I just say oh well and start the next match, often times I'm even so amused by the way we lost I'm even laughing after a loss. Ranked battle on the other hand I find myself raging at when I lose a lot in a row. |
My thought exactly! The worst part, is when you lose 2, 3 or even 4 games in a row, not only do you feel frustrated but there is also a sense of being powerless in front of the situation. You got matched in the losing team 4 times in a row, there is nothing you can do about it. You can try to be better but it's extremely hard for a single person to carry a losing team.
What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)
Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)
I love Regular Battles because of the nature of just trying to cover up as much turf as you can, and it's very spread out and takes advantage of the level's design.
But I also love Ranked Battles because they can get SOOOO intense. And come from behind, over-time victories in Ranked Battles are THE most satisfying feeling in Splatoon!
Soooo I'll go with Ranked Battles!

You could join a different group, though generally half the players leave after each battle anyway.
I would prefer ranked battles if I could join friends just as in regular battles, so I guess I won't be playing ranked battles until the august update with the private rooms.

Ah right that's a huge plus for regular battles aswell. Not sure if the friend team vs. friend team thing will be a part of Ranked battle though, private rooms definitely wont be.
I enjoy regular since I feel like I have more freedom and it's a nice chance to practice and experiment with other weapons that I might not use as often in a more competitive setting.

Tough one, so i'll list my Positives and negatives for both:
Regular
+ Loosing doesnt make you feel bad
+ You get money and exp even if your team loose
+ You can use your special weapon more frequently
+- Get paired up with lower levels (this can be good or bad)
- At Level 20 with full build, winning doesnt feel any progress, just getting money
Ranked
+ Get paired up with the same rank as you
+ More action/killing/intense
+- Get more money and exp (only when you win)
+- Loosing feels much worse compared to regular ( but for me, i fixed this by not really caring too much of my rank. I just play for the gamemode itself)
- You need an awesome team to win
- 1 person afk/dc = instant loss ( for me it is )
In the end i'll say Rank, because i do love the 'competitiveness' feeling for this gamemode and it makes you think more, like one of your team member could be 1 win or loss away from going up or down a rank, which makes them put more effort into it. And i do like having a certain "camp spot" =D
