Forums - Nintendo - What will Nintendo do about this huge problem?

I'm wondering if they can sneak a required update into certain titles that negate any hacks on the system. I noticed the update on SSBB, why not do that with other big first party releases. Maybe even do it in a way that will transfer over if the game is burned or downloaded. I dunno if there is a way to do that but if it's possible that may be the way to go.

dude they have been doing that since mario party 8. Your must be the most mainstream type of gamer. The pigs don't buy games, they steal it and up the prices for the normal people, piss of the developers, and in the end hurt themselves. Now they do do that sometimes, but then they just come out with an update to play over the firmware update.

Well, I'll look at Australia since I'm Australian. We get games months or even half a year after America and we pay about $US85 for games. Yeah, that's right. WE PAY MORE FOR LATE GAMES.

Why wouldn't you pirate? It just doesn't make sense not to.

Look at Brazil. They pay nearly three times as much for games, and their wages are about half. Does Nintendo honestly expect them not to pirate?

Aurally examine my music!

Wear gaudy colours or avoid display. It's all the same.

Be warned, I will use walls of polysyllables and complex clauses as a defence against lucid argument.

Wand to read a creepy thread?

Release a special version of the Wii in China - with significantly different disc format, or something like that.

Then at least piracy will be contained within China.

There is another solution to piracy - peripherals. While its more than possible someone will "rip-off" the WiiFit board - its a lot harder to do, than just rip-off software.

Same applies to WiiWare/online apps.

Gesta Non Verba

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

Game Assessment website

Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099

They turn the Wii into Wii2. Whenever the Wii2 is hacked or Pirated, the next that gets put in shoots out and severs the persons head. Gruesome? Yes. Effective? We sure as hell hope so.

nin is already doing major piracy break downs---reggie kicks in teh door and miya flash bangs

Piracy only in China? Ever been to a little place called outside of north america and west Europe?

I don't think piracy will stop. The only thing Nintendo can do is to increase the price of the wii in China, and make a large profit off of that, so even if people pirate, it won't matter.

Why do you think this is suddenly only a problem now?

At least it's not like the DS/PSP which can be pirated without even a hardware mod. And DS software sales haven't even really been hurt by it (thanks to the "casual" userbase) so why would Wii software sales be affected?

I think its becoming bigger now. Not just coming, pirates suck thats all I know. I figured on a legal sales tracking site I would get some back-up.

There's two things Nintendo can and are doing.

1) make a profit off the hardware & peripherals

2) Pay to Play (already announced).

We know Nintendo is working with Chinese game developers. Expect games for the Chinese (and likely Middle East & South America) that are basically free to get with lots of microtransactions. Otherwise, games like Brawl & Mario Kart will be pirated like crazy, not much you can do there.
