Forums - Gaming - is the Final Fantasy 7 remake maybe a PS4 and NX exclusive? not for PC or Xbox

Sony is helping with the funding. The remake most likely come to PC only.

No XB1 version :)

Maybe these companies are allowing the games to go on PC because they realize there isn't nearly as much overlap in the markets as some people would like to believe?

I think that's a strong possibility. That would also mean that even if MS keeps pushing PC gaming, we will still have the Xbox for this and the next gens.

That would also mean that Steam Machines are beyond doomed, since they would be trying to sell something that its public doesn't like.

Idk about the last part. Price will be the main factor. Consoles are just PC's in one config with a controller attached. If the Steambox can price competitively then you have the same hardware situation, but with an endless amount of software at a ridiculously cheaper price.

Of course this is a possibility.

PC is a threat? That is a strong word and implies it could endanger Sony, certainly it doesn't but this generation the PC gameslibrary is strong... and their are a lot of console gamers on it who prefer to buy games on PC but not in a way that it hurst Sony in a drastic way. I would buy FFVII on PC because I am tired of buying games on a console and then can not play it on another console or even have to rebuy them. If I buy FFVII remakte on steam I can play it in 20 years again and that is why I love it.

Nintendo? Bad business decision, accept it.

I guess we have to wait for next gen to play FF7R just like what happened with FFXV lol

Not only is there no support for this, and it goes against some common sense, but when was the last time Squeenix tried to help Nintendo increase its sales?

It's important to note that it isn't running Windows. It will release this year, without CoD, Fifa, Battlefield, Far Cry 4, Batman and allmost all titles. It actually packs in less titles than PS4/X1.You can change the OS, of course, but anyone with the knowledge or pacience for the hassle, probably will prefer to mount a PC with better specs and pricing. It's a prebuilt PC with small form factor. It includes the manufacturer profit margin. Building it yourself, you will cut this cost. If you don't focus on small form factors, it becomes even cheaper.

I also think that the 2 years advantage they gave to PS4 and X1 is insane. In 2013, they could compete. But looking at this year's E3, PS4 and X1 are entering that part of the cycle where they are on fire: price cuts, more games, big franchises.

Of course, I could be wrong and maybe more modern parts like the new AMD HBM-equiped GPUs could give it a technological advantage since newer tech with cost in mind is usually cheaper than older tech. Either way, I think games and price are the factor and PS4/X1 will have a massive advantage on both.

I also think that Valve showed that they aren't a hardware company. If you look at the PS4/X1 announcement, it was close to their releases (I know that X1 backfired, but I'm talking about the intention). You show a new console and in less than a year it hits the market: you're keeping the hype high. Valve announced the machines in 2013. There was some hype about it, but it basically died and PS4/X1 stole all the attention with their fight for the console market, games, crazy deals and so on. Playstation and Xbox are the words that are on gamer's minds. Nintendo is a but behind, but also with their mindshare. But Valve let all the hype die by taking so much time to finish the product.

I highly doubt it, I'm thinking nintendos next console will just become another wii u

It still was high enough and together with xbox its higher. Just because xbox one version sells less doesnt mean its not less of treat for sony

It's a completely PC-oriented game. First one was PC. Second was PC with a late port for 360. Even with all of that, the PS version sold more. It's not like some games don't sell on PC (Skyrim sells well), but, outside of a few titles, most sell around some dozens or hundred thousand units, so it's pretty much niche. Most of the money is on f2p MMOs like LOL and DOTA. Even the amount of accounts that Steam reports is inflated by the DOTA2 players.

You are assuming that Sony lets games that they are basically financing release on a big competitor. That is the same than assuming that:

a) They are downright stupid, because they have much more access to publishers and know the numbers for PC sales better than we do and are just being less smart than us forum people. We should run the company.

b) They don't have more knowledge about sales than we do, which means that their relation to publisher is useless and that they don't know how to read other companies financials.

It's just an absurd assumption either way.
