I agree. Nintendo needs to take the right path again in the future (NX and after).

I have a theory that AC Amiibo Festival is going to be a F2P eShop game.
That is why the amiibo are required

AC: amiibo festival looks terrible. I think I will pass on it and the AC amiibos. I have enough board/party games and this one from the initial trailer looks boring as hell.  This is coming from someone that has bought every single AC game to date.

This won't change my mind on buying ones I want, but every time they reveal Amiibo sets for games that barely use them it solidifies my opinion that they're going to run this idea into the ground with a lack of functionality and a complete oversaturation of their product line.

I'm buying at least 5 amiibos from the AC series when it comes out and I'll get the game eventually I guess. I would have liked a console Animal Crossing but I love these amiibos. I mean just look at them how can you NOT love these things?
