Forums - Sony - PS3 GTA 4 looks (slightly) better than 360 version in some parts?

Who is getting both versions of the game? I wonder if there are any real GTA IV fanatics out there who own both PS3 and XBox 360 who just want to play both versions of GTA IV.

Who would bother to do that if they owned both a PS3 and 360? They could just get the 360 version and have everything on the PS3 plus all the bonus DLC stuff available as well.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

yes ,thats because of blu-ray storage i think, they don't compresse anything

Yeah I think the problem is most developers aren't willing to delay a game 6 months just so that the PS3 version can look as good as the 360 one. Most developers simply don't have money to burn like that. It's too bad the PS3 isn't more like a PC/360 so developers didn't have to waste money like that.

 1.  A developer only needs to spend significant extra time once optimizing an engine for PS3.  Subsequent games for each developer will be much easier.

 2. Spend a little (not necessarily 6 months) extra time to make the PS3 version look as good as 360's, spend a little more and make the PS3 version look better.  Ah, the possibilities of CELL.

 3. You assume that 360 is the lead console for development.  In a lot of cases it's now switched to PS3.  Lately, PS3 versions have had the slight edge on 360 ones.  The gulf will only increase.

 4.  It's too bad the 360 exists.  We'd be seeing much more beautiful games if developers could just devote themselves to the intricacies of the stronger hardware, PS3, rather than say, bitch-ass Valve bitching about CELL architecture and then releasing a game (Orange Box) that didn't really use the SPE's at all.  Carmack should and does eat his own ass.

the 6 months delay is not ONLY du to the PS3,

The Xbox360 version was crappy when they have shown it in 2007 ...

I m surprised that the PS3 would have a better AA since most Xbox360 games, over the PS3 games, have a better AA.

Something you have to pay for I wouldn't call a bonus, maybe a bonus to Microsoft's future profits. Many 360 users haven't even set up a free silver account yet for downloading demos and such, so it's anyone's quess how many people will actually buy this. DLC will be available for both platforms, only some additional episodes you have to pay for are exclusive. Personally I haven't even played through San Andreas yet.

There are also plenty of arguments which can be made for getting the PS3 version over a 360 version, including with regard to free online play, hardware reliability, disc scratching, drive noise and maybe even like this report suggests better graphics. Who knows, maybe GTA IV will offer nice PS Home specific additions and extras in the future as well.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Even if the PS3 version is slightly less impressive than the XBOX 360 version I will get the PS3 version. I have a system of buying multi platform games for the PS3 because you just don't know when your XBOX 360 will die!

I'll believe it when I see it. Rockstar is not typically known as the company with programming mastery. The PS3 hardware does in fact require a different outlook, and I just fail to see Rockstar being the company to just "get it". I am willing to believe Sony's sent quite a bit of support to get a game of this magnitude up and running efficiently, but I still have my doubts.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

i doubt it very much the ps3 version is a port, but i know the 360 version was the lead version.

all in all they will look identicle much like burnout and cod4 etc.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

This is too huge for Take Two to lose sales because of quality. Also, Rockstar has a reputation to uphold. The slightly better graphics isnt something I'm going to boast or brag about (the xbox fans on the other hand :-/), im just happy that the game will be played on both consoles equally.

The consoles will decide who benefits more with this release, not developer mistakes. Im really happy about that.
