If they were funding it completely, it wouldn't be on PC.

Shenmue 2 was a massive failure in terms of management so no wonder they spent $70M on that game. Watch Dogs cost less than that 13 years later. I'm sure Sleepings Dogs cost much less than that too.

Sony doesn't own the IP so most likely the game being on pc was part of the deal.

How much do you think it would cost to develope and market the game?

There is no question, however, that the cost to make a AAA games in going up across the board. Last summer, when Kotaku editor-in-chief Stephen Totilo talked to Sony's head of worldwide development, Shuhei Yoshida, about game budgets, Yoshida said budgets for top-tier PS4 games would be "slightly larger" than the $20 to $50 million price range he estimated as the development cost for "top PS3 games." Four years ago, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot estimated that the average production budget for the generation of games following Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 would be $60 million. In an 2012 investor report, Take-Two admitted some of its "top titles" cost in excess of $60 million for development alone.

2014

Destiny - $140 million - The leaked initial development contract for the game authorized payments totaling up to $140 million to cover Bungie's development and limited marketing efforts (ViDocs and other marketing assets) prior to the game's beta. As the contract also specifies, Bungie's marketing costs — limited to $1 million — are separate from Activision's own marketing expenses on Destiny.

Watch Dogs - $68 million - Stéphane Decroix, an executive producer on the project at Ubisoft Montreal, told French business publication Challenges Ubisoft's contemporary open-world title has a development budget in excess of 50 million euros ($68 million).

Thanks for proving my point. If Watch Dogs can be made with $68M in 2014 on 5 platforms, then Shenmue 2 costing $70M back in 2001 for 2 platforms is just gross mismanagement. I doubt Shenmue 3 is going to cost $70M to make.

FF7r and Shenmue 3 are both at the top of my wish list.

If one of these are announced at MS or Nintendo's Conference, I would have voted for them.

But since both were announced at Sony's, then it is a big win for Sony, IMO.

It doesn't even matter if both are released on all platform at the same time, I'd buy any console that has access to one or both.

Sony obviously had the best press conference this year.

The Last Guardian =/= Conference Win

Didn't say it was. I'm still not planning to purchase a PS4, if that's any indication of how low my opinion remains of Sony's offerings this gen. But when the bar set by the competition is scraping the floor it's hard not to give Sony the win.

Sony easily won.

I concur. You're telling this to the guy who still hasn't jumped into the 8th generation of gaming yet.

However...  I need to buy a console from the States before I move to Dubai for my new job. Shit's expensive there.

Did you look at the article? It can cost around that. Anyway, sony is funding the game.

You really didn't get the point he was making, even though he explained it...

Declaring a winner for E3 is simply being subjective.... I'm thinking that MS won this E3 and he's claiming I'm being subjective towards MS!

The same has every one who being subjective taking Sony as the winner. I can see why people would claim that Sony had a better E3 but if anything Sony edges out Microsoft or maybe Bethesda (dark horse of the race).

You totally missed the point that people are coming in here upset or put out that it seems from the internet that Sony won E3... and in defence start making subjective lists claiming why they thought they won... then anyone who makes a similar list, you turn round and say... well that's highly subjective... thats my bloody point....lol.

You can't have it both ways. Also making lists are totally pointless.. thats why i made one to show how subjective it was. I thought it was all pretty clear :)

Last time I checked, FF7 is not on any xbox console.

The rest of this year is in good hands with Persona 5, until dawn, god of war III remaster, uncharted collection, no man's sky, rime, tearaway, everyone's gone to rapture, wattam.

Last time I checked, FF7 remake is timed exclusive to PS4 and will come to Xbox One. You know what I meant.

That list is composed of remakes and B titles/indies. With No Man's Sky being the exception and possibly 2016. Its happened..... its 2011 again, except PS4 fans are defending Sony for the remakes and indies and Xbox fans are bragging about having more AAA games.

This is trippy :P

First off, first on Playstation does not indicate at all that the remake of Final Fantasy 7 is ever coming to the Xbox One.  There's very good reason to believe that Sony still has publishing rights of Final Fantasy VII in the US and Europe.  There's also rumors from actual journalists that Sony had to partially fund the remake in order for Square Enix to agree to it (since they can't put the title on other consoles).  If that's the case, it won't ever appear on Xbox One.  For instance, the PC version of Final Fantasy VII isn't coming to Xbox One.  It would obviously sell well enough and be easy enough to port, so why wouldn't it appear on Xbox One?  A little common sense indicates that it probably can't without Sony's permission.  The same is true of every other Final Fantasy VII related game.  You're looking at the phrase and ignoring the history and the likely scenarios that are attached to it.  Sony gave the permission to put Final Fantasy VII on PC.  Likely it was part of the original contract.  That contract probably has no expiration date.  It probably also includes everything related to Final Fantasy VII.  If that's the case, you'll never see this game on Xbox One.  It likely is the case.

Furthermore, Persona 5 is NOT a B title.  Persona 4 sold 2 million copies overall.  Calling that a B title is ridiculoously ignorant.  Persona is the third best selling JRPG series next to Final Fantasy and Star Ocean.  This one has a lot more mainstream appeal as well and is getting media attention that Persona 4 never got.  I'll be surprised if it doesn't hit 2.5 million in lifetime sales honestly.  People love Persona, and you're ignorant on the topic.  Until Dawn isn't a B title either.  It's likely that it won't live up to Quantic Dream fame, but it definitely has high production values.  Sony's line up is good enough to push sales considerably over Xbox sales worldwide.  A little less salt buddy.  I like the variety that Playstation offers a lot more than Microsoft's exclusives.  You obviously don't feel that way.  Nier and Star Ocean 5 are huge announcements for me.  They obviously are not for you.  That's perfectly fine, but stop pretending that everyone loves Halo and Gears.  They don't.

It's really hilarious that you think the entire internet is suddenly a Sony fanboy because the response is overwhelmingly that Sony won E3.  We're not all fanboys buddy.  I love games on all platforms.  I definitely enjoy JRPGs more than most people, so I naturally gravitate to the PS4.  That being said, Gears of War 4 actually looked pretty good to me.  So did Recore and I do want to play Quantum Break.  I might actually buy a Xbox One if Microsoft has an equally interesting E3 next year.  They're interesting me way more than they did last generation.  And I think that's a great thing.  I'm already buying a Wii U for Xenoblade Chronicles X and Zelda.  I own a gaming PC already.  We're not fanboys, we just like what we like.  Get over it.

That is a lot of assumptions about final fantasy 7 man.  It is true that first on playstation is no guarantee that it is coming to xbox one (although in this day and age it is heavily implied), however the rest of your speech there is just wild assumption.  I mean, look at Mass effect, Microsoft completely funded and published that title (which is a heck of a lot more than sony did with ff7) and it still ended up on other platforms.
