I agree with everything DerNebel said about the game. I am oddly fascinated in the campy-ness of the game. That said, it seems quite apparent that the game was intended to be similar to the Persona series. Since it is made by Atlus, I think Nintendo is hoping people would make that connection. That said, it's not being made by the Persona team, and it clearly shows. It clearly lacks the subtlety, idiosyncrasy, artfulness, character design, and music quality that make the Persona series unique and fantastic. Ultimately, it just seems like another otaku-appealing niche JRPG, as opposed to a brilliant otaku-appealing niche JRPG.
That said, I stand by my opinion that this game looks like a mystical trainwreck that absolutely everyone must buy.
