I just thought to myself. If a fanboy spends all their free-time on this site talking about the console they support, then they are not playing on it, therefore they do not find it as fun as talking about it, which means they do not love the console as much as they claim.

Its a good point if someone posts here during their leisure time. Many others post from work or school, so they are killing time until leisure time.

GUILTY!! Sorta. I'm on this site mostly at work (shhhh) but even when I'm home I'm not a big player of games. Except for Baldur's Gate and Brawl.
I probably do enjoy the sport of watching the industry more than being a gamer. Kind of like enjoying politics without being involved in politics or even sports for that matter.
I haven't been on this site for more than 20 minutes the past 5 days, what you talkin' bout.

It's a good attempt at a point if you aren't really being serious, but if you are being serious, then it needs to be pointed out that part of being a fan means you enjoy the system, if you enjoy the system, then it's only natural that you want to share and create discourse over that which you enjoy with other people.

I think your comment, Highway, is more valid when directed to people who troll the forums of the consoles they don't like. I mostly stay in the Sony forums when talking about videogames, or whatever is in hot topics (while trying to remain respectful of other consoles).
I also really enjoy the off-topic section. The off-topic section is therefore another form of entertainment/socializing other then gaming. It complements gaming, without taking away from gaming.
