Forums - Sony - Guerrilla Games Hiring Witcher 3 veteran developers for the new open world PS4 game.

Well I'm glad they realise that the rules of open world game design and quests have changed and are hiring people to make the game more immersive.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Any person hired by Guerrilla could also be working on their other team (the team who made Killzone Shadow Fall). But it do seam likely that the Witcher people would help them finalize Horizon.

Don't copy random editorials.

With CDPR people on board can I hope that this won't be in FP perspective? I won't get excited for this until third person / birds-eye view is confirmed.

I can't wait to see Horizon in action (assuming it's called Horizon), from what I've read it's being developed by the team at Guerrilla Amsterdam who made Killzone 2, that game shipped in 2009 and Guerrilla first announced they'd begun working on a new IP in 2010, so the title is at least 5 years in development at this point, maybe more.
John Gonzalez joined Guerrilla in September 2013, he's worked on Shadow of Mordor as WB games Lead Designer, Narrative. He's also been the Lead Writer on Fallout New Vegas (Obsidian) and for Ubisoft he was the Lead Narrative Designer on End War.

These CDPR additions just build an even better picture of something wonderful.
Horizon's been compared to The Witcher 3 in scale of the world.

Shinobi602 stated that he believed you played as the Redheaded Female lead, with NPCs backing you up.
Supposedly the game is set in a distant future, where modern civilization was wiped out, leaving desolate cities looking like ruins.
Humans now live as tribes (so there could be a variety of groups), hunting realistic wildlife and trying to survive against those huge Robotic Dinosaurs (potentially other kinds of mech beasts too).

Apparently it's 3rd person, Western RPG in style, gorgeous environments, very alive.
Basic melee weapons, along with crossbows, guns.
Big beasts can be tag teamed by your group, with you bringing them down like AT-ATs or just flat out blasting the hell out of it.
Seems like the materials the beasts are made of may be able to be harvested to trade or use as resources for your people when you defeat them.

If you are wrong on that I'll be sending a mob with pitchforks.

Looks pretty good to me. Just hope the focus is on single player.

Some of the pictures gave me Monster Hunter feelings.

From another person who apparently knows people that have worked on the game:

Dussck

It fits what I've heard about it from people who work(ed) on it.

  • female lead character
  • 3rd person RPG
  • lead character can dual wield blades
  • will look ALOT better then Killzone Shadow Fall

This has been in production for some time now, probably will be revealed at the next E3 or gamescom. Sony seems to have a new policy about announcing their games (after The Last Guardians' failure); only announce games that will be releasing in about a year from the announcement."

Obviously we should all take information not coming from the developers with a pinch of salt.

I definitely want this to be a 3rd person game just as much as the next guy.

Me too. If the game turns out to have both 3rd person view and a focused single player campaign I'm completely sold.

Looking at GG's history I'm not at all worried about gameplay and graphics.

Awesome news!

Never was interested in or bought any of the Killzone games. But Horizon is looking like a very special project that could become one of the hallmarks in Sony's staple if everything goes well.

All of the concept art posted here is hyping me even more for it! Love the colourful art style that seems to be a balanced mix of different inspirations.

"Will look ALOT better than Killzone Shadow Fall"

A third person, open-world, RPG, that looks better than Shadow Fall...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
