I'm really, really hoping that Persona 5 ends up as a huge success, both in Japan and the west, and that success prompts more developers/publishers to work on unique and creative RPGs.
Personally, I think part of the decline in RPGs in Japan had to do with how generic they were becoming, with the same fantasy setting, bland art-style, and cookie-cutter, boy-hero-saves-the-world story. Of course, many publishers are going to miss the point and just look to mimic Persona.
