Forums - Nintendo - DK Wii!

I have been wanting a new DK for a long time, and I believe the reason we have not seen one for about 10 years is the loss of Rare.

If one were made I would want it to be done by Retro(Graphics and Design), or EAD Tokyo(You can see what they did with mario!!!)

I think to seperate DKWii from Galaxy they should do DK more like SMS or M64.... I think it should be a pure traditional 3d platormer with platforming elements as the main goal(like SMG) and not a collect-a-thon like DK64(Rare was the main culprit here). Although, I would not mind more of an adventure element too(Larger, but fewer worlds, as opposed many smaller, like SMG- I guess this is where it would be more like SMS) it since DK has always had a more "adventurous" !!! BUT !!! I think there is alot they can do with the DK franchise. They could implement the Barrels in an enjoyable way with the WiiMote, and other things such as rope swinging, and like Mario's spin in SMG they could do DK's punch(Forward Thrusting Motion), spin(Same as SMG), pounce(Jump the swing WiiMote down ward), and power slide(While running do foward thrusting motion and press B) easily on the Wii Controls. This would seperate DK from SMG also in that DK relies more on "combat skills".

The game would undouptedly sell buttloads if the production Values are near what what SMG was, DK 64 sold over 5 million, and it was not that great. Nintendo has given the series a well deserved break(there were 4 in 5 years I believe... maybe 6 years....)

Playing Brawl earlier had me thinking of a new DK game too. My personal thoughts were that it should be a very arcade-like experience in 2D. I'd like to see DK return to his roots. A 3D adventure would be nice, but I'd prefer a simple, old school approach.

^DS, DCK4 for DS and DK Wii should co-launch for hype reasons : ).

Co-launch would never happen due to unexpected delays in the dev process and just how Nintendo works but having them a month off or so the hype would carry on and yes I agree with you but I would say many worlds that feel small but have MANY ways to go through them would feel most like the DK I know and love but that's just me.

I want a DK: Jungle Beat sequal!!

Nintendo should pack Jungle Beat and the Donkey Kongas onto one wii disc, and sell it with the bongos. I reckon it would fit in really well with the wii demographic.

I certainly wouldn't turn down a 2D DK on the DS, but I'd prefer a nice 2D game on the Wii. I love my DS and GBA, don't get me wrong, I just hate how 2D gaming is pretty much only happening on handhelds. I like to play games(most of the time) on a tv, sitting on my keister.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast is on Wii.

You're assuming that a game has to be released as soon as it's complete. And as many game and film makers have said, you're never truly "finished" with a project, there just comes a point where it has to be released or a date has to be met. Besides, Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion co-launched.

I love that idea. I never bought the Konga games or Jungle Beat.

But Nintendo will probably go cheapo-style and make you use the Wiimote+nunchuck, like they did in Barrel Blast.

I hated DK64. It was incredibly boring. I'd prefer a 2D platformer.

I totally agree with you, i would love a new 2D DK game for my DS, but i would rather see an amazing 2D platformer for he Wii, even if i don't own one :P.
