If you mean a different take on established genres and with a decent development budget and proper marketing; then yes, yes of course they should!

Perhaps not games exactly like Splatoon, but new IPs. If you do that then the uniqueness factor and the stable of IPs which you have swells and the reasons to buy the system increase as well. Makes it so the lack of third party titles is fine noticable and that's the key.

Whether that will happen...I don't know.

well at least zombiu as a launch titel got massive marketing. Tv commercials, day 1 bundle and much much more.

also bayonetta got good marketing in my opinion. Splatoon wasnt really more (at least in my country).
Also bayonetta got a big hype and much more.

Neither Bayo2 or ZombieU had 1/3 of marketing that Splatoon had. And this is not my opinion.

Splatoon is definitely the sort of game parents would buy for their young children, Zombi U and Bayonetta 2 definitely isn't.

Splatoon is clearly a fantastic fit for the wii u audience and fits in well with all the other wii u games that have sold 2 million plus (kart, smash, nintendoland, mario bros u, luigi and mario 3d. )

I think when Zombi U was developed there was still hope that the wii u would appeal to a wider audience but at this point its clear it has utterly failed to do so so development should be towards existing wii u owners who perhaps like me have bought a Nintendo console for mainly Nintendo's own exclusives and the few other decent exclusives. The wii u hardware is incredibly limiting so not much point trying to compete with ps4 and xbone head on with multiformat titles.

Unique ideas are certainly welcome, and Splatoon is a new IP that did rather well, from the looks of it!

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Well they should definitely market their games better like with Splatoon, that's for sure

I'm fine with sequels, tbh, as long as they are fun

that and also games like hyrule warriors. both unespexted that suprised positivelly the owners and sold better than expected.
they should make their own disney infinity with ninty IPs.
let lego make a game with one of their franchises.
let ubisoft make a 2d mario with rayman legends/child of light engine.
pokken is in the way also.

No. It was nice that they tried a multiplayer game but I think they are best at making platformers and racing games.

yeah like sb already said in this thread, hyrule warrios for sure hadnt any bigger marketing then bayo2 (hw was even smaller) but sold way better.

Only Mario Kart and Smash had the same marketing of Splatoon. And that's the reason the game is selling well.

Game is selling well because its good and fun game that have wide apeling for wide audience, same like Mario Kart and Smash, not just because some marketing.
