Forums - Gaming - Kotaku: Destiny's New Expansion Is The Taken King, Out September 15

Only good news today.

The next Destiny expansion is called The Taken King, according to marketing materials sent to Kotaku. It’ll be out on September 15 and will open up a new subclass for each of Destiny’s three classes, according to the leak.

This evening, a tipster sent over a large marketing sheet for The Taken King, which we’ve been able to corroborate with other sources. The sheet—which lists The Taken King at $40—offers a handful of details surrounding Destiny’s next expansion pack.

You read right... prepare yourself for the electrical storm Lord Warlock.

About the $40 price point... Take King is a full retail release with all the updates included.

The Pass for the first 2 DLC is £35, this will proably £25, so the game can be bought for £55 from PS Store and the DLC for £60?

Hmm, pie.

That seems pretty pricey for an expansion pack o.o

Are Destiny DLC packs typically filled with a lot of content?

I was expecting $60 but is is really cheaper for a full retail release with all the content released.

Hope the upgrade around $20-25.

$40 seems like quite a lot. That's around what i'll be paying for FF14 3.0, which i expect will be adding several magnitudes more content than this.

Edit: Ah, apparently that includes all the previous content too. Out of curiosity, how much unique content does Destiny have right now?

Taken King is a full retail release with all the previous content included... I was expecting $60 to be fair.

Where in the article does it say that?

Not the article.

Taken King is the marketing name for Comet... it is a full retail release that will have two future epansions.

So £30 for Destiny plus all DLC? I think i might trade in my copy of Destiny now to get as much as possible and buy that when it's out.

Or is it a new game as such?

EDIT: Do I want to trade it in? The game is fine but lacks something... the story isn't as good as Borderlands 2 and the MP isn't as good as CoD.... thinking to myself outloud here.

Hmm, pie.

$40,.. as i already bought the previous content there better be an cheaper path for me to upgrade that doesn't have me double paying for the old content. ...or the new content better actually double the size of the original game.

yeah,.. we'll see but i might be done with this game once this launches. the first two dlc packs wasn't enough content to justify the price for me.
