I'm not really suprised at this point (but damn do I want to believe) but the fact that they won't even show their new VR device (HTC Vive) is odd to say the least. Overall it was expected but a disappointment, especially with a dedicated PC conference this year.

The Half-Life and Steam company has told GamesBeat that it is not taking meetings for its upcoming products like the HTC Vive at E3, which begins in a little over a week in Los Angeles.

This means we’re probably not getting a Half-Life 3 announcement — because of course we’re not getting a Half-Life 3 announcement. But it also means that media will have a difficult time getting their hands on the HTC Vive, which is the first virtual-reality headset to run on Valve’s Steam VR platform.

Doubt this has come as a surprise to anyone. We need a year which ends in a 3, preferably 2033, for HL3 to be announced.

Not surprised one bit.

But, that's the year when we're supposed to retreat into the metro system, because our surface will get radiated and infested with monsters.

Quite clearly then Gabe Newell will have something to do with this. It's all part of the plan.

I remember the good ol' days when Valve used to make video games. Now they sort of just people to forget that and Gaben probably pushes Half Life 3 an extra year each time a fan asks him about it.

You know how Egoraptor used to make cartoons, but now he just spends all his time on Game Grumps, because it's a lot easier and makes him way more money? I feel like Valve is like that now. They used to make games, but they found it was a heck of a lot easier and way more profitable to just sell them. They're pretty much just "The Steam Company" now.

If rumors are true and the Steam Summer Sales start this Thursday, they'll be too busy swimming in the money from the sales to care about E3.

But it's a shame and a wasted oportunity to promote their Steam Machines, Controller and SteamOS.

To be fair Valve is consistently updating CS GO and DOTA 2 so their developers are doing something. They are also consistently working on new projects and updating their client. I do hope they can get a dedicated to team to their older IP"s like L4D and HL.
