The Order IP belongs to Sony, doesn't it? Don't think they'll be able to continue it as a multiplat. Guess it's kinda understandable that Sony doesn't want to continue the series and it also shows that it lost Sony money (something I had a discussion about with someone one Gaf).

A "spiritual successor" can be made. Lol. I agree with pocklane. They couldnt make a game without the help and funding of Sony. Now they want to make multiplarform games.

This proves that the order 1886 wasnt financially successful and Sony is strick about the return of their investment. Unlike PS3 era this era they are strick. Lets see how their next project turns out to be.

just confirming that sony owns the IP for the order.  RaD can go multiplat but the order will not.

"want" is a relative thing.  with the game kind of flopping sony probably severed the relationship and that forces them to go multiplat.  shame to me either way.

the other platform is probably nintnedo's next console which will probably be on par with ps4 in terms of hardware tech.

Maybe the Order isn't finished after all:

"Ru Weerasuriya: We feel that The Order showcased the fruits of our labor on technology. That was one of the biggest focuses for the team having come from PSP and jumping directly to PS4. The first game was more than anything a launch platform to build upon. And as I mentioned in the past, The Order was never written as a one-off story. There is a lot more to tell as you can see from the way the game ends. We of course have aspirations for the future of the IP and our involvement in its growth.

Paul Sams: We would love to be part of building The Order as a franchise. It is an IP that we created, that we deeply love and that we believe in. We cannot say more than that regarding The Order at this time."

But it definitely looks like RAD is looking to go multiplat:

"Since the release of The Order, we have been very hard at work to advance our engine and technology to a place where we can deliver our games on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and one other unannounced platform that you will soon find out about."

Oh and they also seem to want to completely play out of their own league:

Sams: We have two original IPs currently under development that we own. However, we are not at a point in the development process that we can discuss them. Stay tuned...

Seriously RAD? 2 new IPs? Couldn't even get one right in the last 4 years.

Insominiac Round 2.

Sony lost another exclusive even though they have control over the IP.

And people here, a couple of years ago were saing that developers would jump to be PS4 exclusives... And how smart Sony was by holding those IPs.

BTW insomniac has returned "home" with ratchet and clank remake in PS4. They couldnt make much profits in Xbox One. Now the full circle.

I was looking forward to an Order 1887 (or whatever it would be called).

And yet, Insomniac is currently working on a PS4 exclusive

Agreed. It also kinda confirms Sony is not happy with the performance. So RAD had to walk their own ways.

"Sony lost the exclusive"...no buddy, Sony discarded the exclusive if at all, if you've already forgotten the first game had a metacritic of 63 and was likely a financial failure, no surprise Sony wasn't overly attached to the franchise after that.

If you wanna see developers jumping to be exclusive to the PS4 you just have to look for Japan.

even less with multiplat (fuse),.. i love R&C and by extention insomniac but i'm not convinced they can make a new IP that gamers will care about.  maybe they should try and make something more like yooka laylee because they are strong in that genre, the genre is underserved, and there is demand there so long as you keep your dev budget in check with sales expectations (1-2 million).

A spiritual successor to the original Spyro games would be awesome.

Time to bring the production values of your games down.  Its obvious they had to spend way too much time fine tuning the graphics in the order.
