Forums - Nintendo - so i just start plating metroid prime..

this is my first metroid game. Bought it from the eshop when it launch and finally start playing it today . after playing an hour, here's some of my opinion:

1) i actually wish this game is on pc.. i personally prefer 1st person in pc. the motion control here is not bad, but i often get headache after playing 1st person on TV.

2) i like the atmosphere of the game. seriously, nintendo should consider make more game with similar theme.

3) as i am still not used to the motion control, the early boss, robotic bee hive (or whatever with similar name XD) made me faint like hell as the screen keep rotating.

so far i am enjoying despite the 1st person camera made me abit headache and have to take a rest after an hour of gameplay.

it took me awhile to understand how this game works. any tips for a begginer like me? would like to hear some recommendation for the controls as well

sry for my bad english - it is not my 1st language

Take it slow. Scan everything.

Really odd you get headaches on the TV, but not PC. There's no difference, except screen size.

I remember the FPS mode in WWE Smackdown!: Shut Your Mouth. That made me motion sick as hell.

metroid prime was a great game,.. but i'm not so sure it is good enough to plate.

I Think it is the distance between screen and me is what makes difference for me. I have no problem playing hours of CS with my cousin with my laptop. It might because mouse gives me better controls of camera but i am still not used to motion control yet

I find motion controls decent, but not fully OK

There was this great FPS back in days on PC called 'Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force' where you could enable in settings different way of treating your reticle than usual FPS games which follow mouse 1:1 - this allowed you to have just only slight rotation when close to center and more further you are to edge of screen (not sure if I make myself clear, can't really explain it properly).

Anyway, I always wished Metroid had this, while playing with Wiimote was decent enough, I never felt it was quite perfected.

With the Gamecube controller, the screen stays fixed during movement like it's supposed to.

It's not meant to be played like an FPS.

Scan everything is the best tip I can give. Aside from that use the map and remember where you've come from and where certain things are. You need a good grip on the geography of the world to succeed in this game and there is a lot of backtracking, but that's fine.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

One you'll get used to the WiiMote/Nunchuck you won't trade it to anything else in FPS...

During fights you can lock onto the target which might help on some of the nasty mini bosses - the faster they move the more useful locking is.

Have a great time - even when the Prime series is slow paced compared to todays standards.
