Forums - Gaming - Steam Machines are coming this Fall: PS4, Xbox One and Wii U should be terrified

If they can hit console prices then the console market could have a big shake up, bare in mind that some of these machines will be cheap in future and are already powerful enough to compete for years beyond the current gen and Steam means they'll always have games released.

In the long run if things go to plan for Steam Machines the platform holders who would suffer the most are MS and Sony as they're heavily reliant on third parties the majority of whom are on Steam and take the approach of focusing on high end consoles which Steam Machines will beat out, Nintendo don't really rely on third parties for sales or high end consoles either so it makes little difference to them.

This is hilarious.

They are not as laughable as people here think, but yes, they need a price reduction and solve the OS library problem. If those 2 things happen, i will be worried.

Maybe the 2 big advantages consoles have, local co-op and exclusives, are losing relevance. Every passing year we see how Activision, Ubisoft, EA and T2 matter to console sales more than exclusives. Local co-op situation is even worst, sometimes it looks like Nintendo is the last one giving a damn about it.

It won`t be success out of the gate, but it can become a very dangerous things.

i rather build my own rig then steam box so this won't get my money

Oh no, an overpriced PC. Sony should be shaking.

Come on. PC gamers don't care about this, they already have better machines. Console gamers don't care about this, they have machines tailored to their desires (usually people who like a simple OS with plug-and-chug games). There's a small crossover of console fans who want a Steam console, and they're the only ones who'd actually buy one of these things.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

There is barely any hype for those things so based on that, I think it will flop.
