If they can hit console prices then the console market could have a big shake up, bare in mind that some of these machines will be cheap in future and are already powerful enough to compete for years beyond the current gen and Steam means they'll always have games released.
In the long run if things go to plan for Steam Machines the platform holders who would suffer the most are MS and Sony as they're heavily reliant on third parties the majority of whom are on Steam and take the approach of focusing on high end consoles which Steam Machines will beat out, Nintendo don't really rely on third parties for sales or high end consoles either so it makes little difference to them.
