Well, people who predictet about 500k/600k were probably correct. The game had an amazing first week, now everyone is playing it and posting/streaming videos about it so it's getting tons of free advertisment to which is added the one recived from commercials

Don't get too excited. Only about 8% of those people bought a Wii U for Splatoon, so it is largely selling to existing owners. It's a great result for a brand new IP that is not borrowing any characters from existing Nintendo franchises, but don't read more into it than that, at least not until we get world-wide numbers.

It also sold through practically all its shipment and many missed out on trying to get the game, which in all indicates at least the game will do good for another week or 2. This game has the highest sell through, and digital sales are huge for the game. If Nintendo ships 60k-70k sell through will be close to 80%-90% of that.
