Forums - Sony - [Rumor][Verendus] Sony JRPG comeback this gen?! SCEJA currently involved in 5 JRPGs? Also MH on PS4 and FF7 spin-off?

It's in the list, he said it was a PS4 exclusive and that it wasn't a musou game either.

I also hope that people notice that he didn't say all of these games are exclusive only the JRPGs and Square Enix Crossover.

It's all mentioned in the same context as Sony's own exclusives, Sony projects.

I think Verrendus does mean it's all exclusive stuff, but it's planned over a very long period of time.

There's a few people on Neogaf that believe Verrendus could possibly be Adam Boyes, which is possible as he would be one person to have all of this information and one of the guys that would understand the vast majority, if not all of Sony's major secret games for PS4 or just general exclusive PS Projects.
I could believe he could be someone that works on the 3rd party relations team, if he's not Boyes.
Boyes is meant to have an account on the site, which people know is him and another non-official one, but that's a stealth account and no one knows which user name belongs to him.

Sony are known to check out Neogaf on a regular bases, I wouldn't be shocked if Scott Rhode went on there, even Shu, not sure about Andrew House or Kaz Hirai though.

I guess we'll see what happens.

Personally I'll be happy if we finally get to see something about Guerrilla Game's and Sony Bend's new IPs at E3, which seems to be the general consensus on when those games will be revealed, GG's is widely believed to be a solid 2016 release, I think Bend's probably is too, Gskyace recently slipped a name for a game called Carnivores, which people on GAF thought could be related to Bend's game (obviously it could be nothing, but he/she was the person to leak the Horizon artwork).

Alternatively Carnivores could be GG's official title for their game.

Recently The Last Guardian popped up again, I think this has to at the least be the year it gets new gameplay, as it's 10 years since Shadow of the Colossus released, I think a release has to be imminent, it's the only really special time for that anytime soon to do anything about the game, unless Team Ico waits until 2017 for their 20th birthday as a Team.

That list seems like all knew rumors, not anything that has been mentioned before and none of the major stuff that's been doing the rounds for a while, though I may have missed him or another "insider/leaker" mention them before.

.....Oh buddy you can not be serious....if you think all those games are exclusive.......you couldn't even fathom how much money that would costs, espically from the western studios. No. Just no.

According to Nightengale:

"With Verendus, it's better for your heart to focus on his near-term teases, than be too engrossed on his "late-gen" teases.

Of those he's teased that can be attributed to him and no other insider, SFV, Yakuza localisation, DQ spinoff (Heroes), FF spinoff (Dissidia) all have been true.

The next on the list is presumably JRPG#1 and #2."

I'm well aware how much games cost to make, or how much these deals cost with 3rd party publishers.

Let's not forget that Sony are the ones selling the vast majority of 3rd party software, they're planning for years on PS4, each year requires a slew of exclusives when we get into the meat of a generation and that's how Sony works, they build up steam at the beginning of the generation and then it's a constant stream of exclusives for their platforms, in a wide variety of genres, so they can draw in the biggest crowds of gamers.

This is exactly how they dominated in the PS1, PS2 days and why they caught up with the 360 so quickly last gen.

It's not realistic to think Sony wouldn't be going huge on exclusives, especially when they have huge revenue coming from 3rd party software sales, they definitely have the money for this kind of investment and they absolutely would capitalize on their position within the market.

I'm not saying all of Verrendus's predictions are going to pan out, even if he was the most solid and biggest fountain of real information about Sony's inner workings deals do change, projects get cut for whatever reasons.

I know some are exclusives, like I said the JRPGs are exclusive but you are saying all of those games are exclusive, and that is just ridiculous.

And I'm not doubting Verendus, I trust him. And I really really really really really really think you don't know how much games costs these days. Because if you did, you would see how much money that would cost and you'd realize what a crazy thing you said.

Verendus just dropped one of his larger posts hinting at some of Sonys future game projects (as well as some 3rd party projects), here is the whole thing:

"New post, since I wrote more than I thought.

Here we go:

This is my wishlist from a while back. I've deleted games off it that I've talked about being in development in the past, and titles that people already know are in development (MM's new IP, GG's new IP, Gran Turismo etc.).

Here's the truth about this wishlist, when I posted it, about half of these games were probably going to show up at E3. Hence why I said in the post that I'll like E3 if even half of them show up. Now here's the thing, forget that. The when doesn't matter now. And that post is now meaningless with that kind of statement since I know what's happening generally, and the number doesn't fit due to some changes.

Instead, here's what I can tell you. All of the list is true, except for two games, which I can't vouch for. One of those games is actually coming to Nintendo, but that's second hand information, and I don't really know about it. The other hasn't even entered pre-production, and SCE is in talks about possibly getting something done with it. We'll have to see about that. But even without those two (and I won't say which two those are since if I do, I confirm something I don't want to), there's still a lot here.

I'll start you off. JRPG1 and JRPG2, which I've talked about several times, don't need any elaboration. You'll know both soon enough. JRPG3 is in pre-production at the moment, and is something that should appeal to fans. This will be announced in 2016, at the earliest, I would assume. They've only just started picking things up this year. JRPG4 is much further away. This will be a more significant title, but you're not hearing about this anytime soon. This is towards the end of the generation. JRPG5 is similar to a title that you already know about. Also, a late generation title.

That's your Sony exclusive JRPGs which SCEJ/A is going to be involved in some shape or form over the next five years. Nice, isn't it? I don't think you have to worry about any of them being cancelled. But don't expect to hear of the latter three anytime soon, but I'm sure it'll look more believable once JRPG1/JRPG2 are announced since those are up first, and hey, we're not that far now.

To ruin some SE stuff.

FF7 spin-off. Real. Not AAA, but it'll be good. No one is going to complain. Current gen. Square Enix crossover is PS4 exclusive. I don't mean Musou. New Parasite Eve is pretty straightforward. A new PE game.

Monster Hunter PS4, I think I was caught by Chobel in January when I posted it, and edited it. But it's been leaked from the looks of it anyway. That's your upcoming MH PS4 game. However, it's not the only one. SCEJ/A has been discussing with Capcom about bringing more Monster Hunter to PS4 for a while, and for the most part, the only thing I can say is things are looking pretty good on that front. Please be excited. Although, check your expectations a little if you're expecting some massive effort. We're just fitting in what exists, rather than trying to create something new.

The new Naval RPG is a western game. Big publisher, big budget. And I think that's about enough.

All sounds like bullshit, doesn't it? That's good. If it sounds too believable, it'd be no fun."

Oh I understand now, people think this is just a E3 leak, lol. Verendus isn't just some random guy, he's a trusted insider on NeoGAF. And this isn't E3 related, he said he wouldn't talk about E3 but about games coming in the few years. Now it makes sense.

I took this with all the salt found in a teardrop, one generated by the thought of a new Parasite Eve.
