Strayed away from Nomura's vision? You mean the vision that had the game in development hell? The one that kept Noctis from having official outfit for years? Nomura had his shot at his First FF as director, and he bombed. Just like FF14, somebody has to come in a clean up the mess.... THEIR way, not old directors way.

Seriously, the age of Wada was mismanaged

Not really his fault, SE were in disarray and him and his team were constantly being pulled off to help with other projects, the whole development chaos was not his doing.

Well at the end of the day we don't know much about neither Versus nor the final product of FF15.

It always looked pretty much detached from FF13, but apparently there were story elements that tied into it. But honestly I couldn't tell from the trailers, which was very different in tone and design.

One thing that I'm a bit worried about is that the darker, more epic tone of the Versus trailers (which I really liked) seems to be all but gone from what we've seen. But who knows; it might still be there in the final release.
The main concern I have is if FF15 will ever release in the complete, polished-to-a-shine way we want/expect from a Final Fantasy game.
I mean they seem to be spending a lot of time on this Duscae demo, so I sure hope they're still working towards the complete game in a foreseeable future.

I think that's the main thing that has fans of the original Versus concepts worried. Stella was almost sybollic of a strong female character in keeping with the darker tones of those trailers. The new trailers don't portray anything close to the darker nature of Versus, and all we've seen of Luna point to a more sterotypical and weaker anime trope.

I wouldn't worry too much about the work going into the demo. The demo is effectively their beta-tests. It's almost like Steam's early-access program and allows them to test out the implementation of game concepts for the final release.

It's more about personality and abilties than appearance, they're almost identical in appearance. The difference is that Stella looked like she'd be a strong character, she shared Noctis' crystal powers and the ability to see Etro's light, she had her own goals and ambitions that would at times make her both an ally and an enemy of Noctis. She seemed like she was going to be a really complex, well-written character, and a good potential romance interest for Noctis.

By comparison all we've seen Luna do so far is sit there looking pretty waiting for Noctis to show up for a dinner. I got this strong damsel in distress vibe from her, that's a feeling I just can't shake. Maybe I'm wrong and she'll be just as strong of a character as Stella, but first impressions are important, and Tabata picked a really bad way to introduce Luna for the first time.

Wait, you forged this opinion of her character based on that 3 seconds shot we got of her? She didn't appear to be a damsel in distress at all in that shot. I don't get how you came up with that from seeing her in smiling and looking at the camera...

Presentation counts for a lot. The earlier concept trailers point to a deeper and darker world from which people inferred Stella to be a strong female character. The newer trailers have been presented as lighter in nature and suggest more anime-centric stereotypical tropes (yes, even that 3 seconds worth!).

You're right though, we can't know how deep or strong the characters are/were and it seems a bit silly with how little concrete information we have. But this is how SE wants the game to be perceived now vs how the game was perceived back in the Versus days. Like I said, presentation counts for a lot.

This, I was intrigued and interested in the original concept but the game looks to have strayed from it and turned into something more in line and typical as far as the series and rpgs go. Even the character types of characters like Noctis that Nomura said was going to be unlike what people expected from a main central character seem to have been overridden.

There's a serious over reaction to this. People are mourning a character that didn't even exist outside of a few trailers, and they defended themselves for some changes. You're pissed off over losing a concept of an idea people formulated in their heads over a decade. Stella might have been the most obnoxious emo character ever and you wouldn't even have known until release.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII died a LONG time ago. It's time to move on, and i'm seriously stunned people haven't accepted this already.

Really hate to say this, but people are right when they say Final Fantasy Fandumb. I hate being apart of this community. Every single piece of news has to be an over reaction, that leads to threats, cries, and more. We all know you'll purchase the fucking game so just.....stop.

With one vision, you would never have had a released game.

With another, we're getting a release fairly soon.

Take your pick.

Either your joking or your completely ignorant about the development of the game.  The game taking so long was not the original team's fault, it was SE's terrible management of the staff.

You do realize that Nomura was removed as director as part of the changes to SE's development staff, right? As in, he was part of the problem. In fact, his removal and subsequent full time shift to KHIII is the only notable change at such a high level, meaning, again, he was part of the problem. Nomura has been well known in the past generation (and even two if you wanna look at the roots of this issue) for being worse than Aonuma with pacing his teams.

Which all brings me back to: One game, the details of which you barely knew, was run by Nomura alone and would likely have never come out without Square's "terrible management" outright forcing him to get moving. The other, run superficially by Nomura, will actually release.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I think people who followed FFVS13 for 7+ years knows what and who Stella was and there was a reason people were pinning their hopes on this darker RPG because it was doing something different. Just because you think she "Might" have been obnoxious characater ever, shows your lack of understanding about the game development history. And versus died when Tetsuya Nomura was replace.

I sure bought a PS3 for this game, but I m not buying this on PS4, just like I avoided ff13. And I am not a FF fan, the only FF I played was FF9 besides that nothing impressed me untill FFvs13.

I remember the very day that Versus XIII was announced. I was 15 years old. I'm almost 24 now. I have quite the extensive knowledge on Versus XIIIs development history, probably more-so than the average Final Fantasy fan. However, i'm not going to lose my mind over a character that barely had any detail that fleshed her out. People assumed a LOT about Versus XIII because details were sparse. Remember the days where fucking clothing lines was big news about the game? Even had she been a strong pro-female character, need I remind you how much hate Lightning receives for that very same reason?

The dark atmosphere may still remain as it's clear they've only been showing trailers on a very specific part of the game as a whole - since the change from Versus to XV. However, I mean if you want to lose your damn mind over something you clearly have no information about, then by all means. Prove my point - keep following fantasies and then complain when those standards aren't met or are altered.

Well you cant be more wrong. Square did acknowledge that they had to shift staff from Nomura's team on to final fantasy 13, and it was a sensible business decision at that time coz Versus was a PS3 exclusive and 13 was not, so which would have been more benefinicial was not a suprise.

and about finishing the game, when versus was re revealed as 15, the game looked long way into the development on a Direct X11 pc, and SE went and add more staff to complete the game as this was no longer an exclusive. But the problem started to arise when Nomura was told to alter the content and his vision as a numbered final fantasy couldnt be this dark, hence it was named Versus13 before. Nomura did tried his best to cut down the darkness and action element but that wasnt enought so SE replaced him and the result is in front of us
