Damn, I actually play split screen with a buddy all the time. We're going to be playing Halo: MCC today in split screen.

It won't actually affect my purchase, I'm still buying the game.

I haven't used splitscreen since Halo 3, so it doesn't really bother me. You can still play co-op with friends over Xbox Live, or with randoms using matchmaking (a feature returning from Halo Reach that I'm happy about). I honestly don't think that many people use splitscreen nowadays, most people don't invite friends over to their house for splitscreen parties anymore, splitscreen parties were more about necessity than desire I think. Once Online Multiplayer took off it was possible to play with your friends without having to invite people over. Splitscreen really sucks for shooters anyway, I hate playing a tiny section of a screen, even when I used to have a 55" TV it was still pretty miserable.

Many people still meet friends in person nowadays especially at weekends, to have some beer together (or water^^) and play some videogames, watch some sports/film/shows together or have a nice barbecue. I don't do that much nowadays (the gaming part) but I'm "too old"  for that but when I look at my street and how the younger people always meet together (or like I mentioned, students in a  dorm) then yes, I think there are still many who sit together on a couch to play videogames together.

My neighbour's son is a perfect example, he is 18 now and has like 2-5 friends visting him every weekend and they play together all the time.

Here's the way I see it. Maybe 10-15% of Halo fans actually use splitscreen nowadays based on the number of guests I've seen in matchmaking in recent years. Meanwhile the majority of Halo fans are able to see the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps (some people claim they can't see a difference between 30 and 60 fps, but at least 80% can I think). Given a choice between a feature that more than 80% of the fanbase will experience, and a feature that 10-15% of the fanbase will experience, I can see why 343 decided to go with 60 fps instead of splitscreen.

However, what I still don't get is why they simply don't keep it at 60 fps for solo/online play, and introduce a 30 fps lock or a 60 fps unlock for splitscreen? Why not give players the option to choose between fps and splitscreen? They claim that the entire game is designed around 60 fps, and suggest that it would be impossible to introduce a 30 fps lock for splitscreen even if they wanted to. I'm no programmer, but that sounds like BS to me. Why wouldn't it be possible to create 30 fps versions of animations and such before release? They've got 4 more months before release, surely they have enough time to create 30 fps assets for splitscreen, they have 300+ devs afterall. And even if they can't create 30 fps assets before release, why can't they release them in a patch after release?

Just because 10-15% are guests in matches doesn't mean that 10-15% of Halo players do play with guests and the rest doesn't, it means 10-15% play with a guest at that moment. Most people who play with guests from time to time do obviously also play alone so that the real number of people who play with guests is higher as the number you see in matches.

If I would play 500 hours Halo and 200 with guests then you would see me 300 hours without guest^^

I agree with the rest, every PC game runs also with lower as 60fps even if it is supposed to be played with 60fps, it sounds just not believable that this is not possible with Halo 5. I mean, they say with this that Halo 5 couldn't run on a PC as long as the PC owner doesn't have a PC which can run it with 60fps which is just illogical.  It would absolutely run with lower frames (even below 30fps lol). Or do they try to tell us that the game on PC would automatically switch to a black screen below 60fps and the PC would have to tell us "can't show what's going on below 60fps, it's just not possibe muhahaa"

Lol Xbox support tweeted that they have already over 2 million tweets now^^

Almost finished Witcher 3, which I started more than month ago! I still have two main missions.
It took me very long time to finish this game because I decided to play every secondary missions, including contracts, and play the game on the hardest difficulty (first time ever to play any game on the hardest difficulty).
I still have three or four secondary missions to play and three or four contracts to finish. Couldn't do them before finishing the main ones because they require higher levels (When I reached the point of no return in the story, I was at level 24 and those missions require 26 at least).
One of the best games I ever played. I loved it more and more when Geralt and Ciri reunited. I love their father-daughter relationship. I like relationships about family more than romance, may be because we don't see them very often.
Loved most of the characters in this game. Loved how every character has its own story.

Does anyone here know why, when and how Gerlat join the hunt? Why did they stop training Witchers? Why isn't Ciri considered a Witcher when she was trained in their fortress and passed the trial?

I decided to read the witcher books since I fell in love with the characters of this universe. I'll start with "The Last Wish". I hope it is well translated.

How can you be so sure of that? People still play games with friends, family etc. Plus during most Halo games I play online, I always see a couple of people playing from one account. So clearly people still do it.

Obviously some people still use it, but I get the feeling that it's mostly siblings that still live at home together nowadays. I don't personally know anybody who has splitscreen parties nowdays, and my friends used to have them alot up until about 2012. It's not like it used to be in the old days, in Halo 2's day for instance nearly every single person I encountered in online multiplayer had a guest with them. Back then XBL had only recently been introduced and it had very little value because it was only used for online multiplayer. Since Halo 2 things have changed alot. XBL subs have increased several times over since then, as Microsoft has increased it's value over time (access to apps such as Netflix, and more recently GWG). I'm lucky to encounter even 1 guest per 2 matchmade games, compared to like 6 guests per 2 matchmade games back in Halo 2.

I can think of an ulterior reason why splitscreen might not be in Halo 5 as well. Splitscreen breaks balance and Halo 5 seems to be all about a perfect balanced arena experience. The skill system in Halo has no way of judging the skill level of a guest, over the years I've seen alot of people using "dark horse" guests to break Halo's skill system. As for why there is no splitscreen in campaign, I guess it's simply because they weren't able to achieve 60 fps in splitscreen. It's a shame, and it may cost them a few sales, but I don't think it will make a whole lot of difference in the long run.

I'm not sure about parties but I still play every Halo game in splitscreen co-op. One of my best friends likes Halo games but isn't a fan of Xbox, so I've been playing with him for years. There's still a lot of people that play it. And remember that most people don't have a Gold sub. Less than 50% have Gold so those are the types of people who might buy Halo 5 expecting splitscreen co-op and multiplayer and may be disappointed.

I'll vote for Rare replay. Hopefully it isn't full of glitches.

Shika, you should post which game wins each round.
