Forums - Sales - Will Splatoon be able to outsell any major exclusives from Sony or Microsoft this year?

Long legs is a pretty meaningless term, what matters is how much it's actually going to sell.

and so far the only games on Wii U that have passed a million mark are the ones with Mario oe link in them.

Not much else from Nintendo sells.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Wii Party U don't have Mario or Link in them...

And Lego City: Undercover and Pikmin 3 are very close to reaching the 1m mark.

That's not technically true; Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Wii Party U have both passed a million without Mario or Link in them.

Lego City Undercover and Pikmin 3 are on the brink of doing so as well.

EDIT: Ninja'd

Splatoon will outsell The Order: 1886, but I'm not sure if it will outsell any other Sony or MS exclusive this year. Maybe Until Dawn as well.

You have it the other way around. Online Only games like Splatoon are the ones that sell most of the LT sales in their first week, and then drop off quickly. look at stuff like Titanfall, and Evolve.

And Souls games have ridiculous legs, infact their opening numbers only account for less than 20% of the LT sales.

Riiiight. Is that why Mario Kart 8 still sells like crazy? And Smash too? What about Pokemon? Or Animal Crossing? I'm not talking about those shooters that are popular with mainly casuals and die within a month because a new hyped game comes along. Splatoon is a Nintendo game with good word of mouth, a very solid campaign and online that will be supported with new additions throughout the whole summer and will get a massive update in August. It should have good legs.

That may be true for other Souls games, but I don't think it will be the case for Bloodborne. It's an exclusive, and it had a massive FW, so I don't think many more sales are going to come out of it (at least in relation to how much the other Souls games sold after their respective openings). I'm thinking 2-2.5m max LT. It already fell off a cliff in Japan (where it had a 150k opening and I don't think it's reached 200k yet). Also, Splatoon was massively undershipped in Japan as it sold around 95% of its initial shipment, and it's still selling out now. Its second week will be very good over there. It's too early to say anything about WW numbers since, well...we don't have them, which is mainly why I think your original comment was premature.

Its an exclusive but that doesn't mean it will stop selling for that reason. This kind of logic sounds retarded, no offence.

Japan is just a drop in the ocean compared to the rest of the world. We already know Bloodborne sold over twice as well as Splatoon in its FW in UK. Let's waitr for sales in rest of the world. Bloodborne sold over 1 million in two weeks and could reach 2 million sales soon.

This is serious? It's Halo year Spurge, of course it has no chance.

I don't think it'll outsell Bloodborne either.

And if we have Gran Turismo 7 this year than there is no chance at all as well.

He wrote "any", not "all". Sorry for picking you out, but reading comprehension seems a bit lacking, even on such a simple header

This. Also I can see Splatoon to outsell Order. Bloodborne - who knows? Nintendo legs + support thru the summer with new modes/maps could be huge and the game is nice itself.
Also I don't see any huge exclusives on PS4 second half of this year.
And on the One - of coarse not Halo and not Forza and not TR. And pls remind me what other exlsvs X1 have this year?

Rise Of The Tomb Raider is not XB1 exclusive. And not all Nintendo games have great legs, usually only Mario, Pokemon and Zelda games have them.

Btw Bloodborne is probably close to 2 million sold by now, I don't think Splatoon will sell that much.

If you pay atention to some posts after that one you'll see I already noticed it a few minutes after posting.

But thank you anyway, and it was not only me nor do I'd a problem with understanding the word as I know what both properly mean, it was a reading too fast problem where I though it was all and not any, as some other people did the exact the same in a close moment.

To be honest I even thought the title was changed right after it because I remember reading all instead of any, but spurge didn't said a word about it so I might just have gone too fast there, with some other people doing the same in a short period of time, I have to believe.

Thats why I meant sorry for picking you. There were plenty of comments like "LOL no caus Halo!" and then at some point I got tired and wanted to point that out. So maybe the wrong person was singled out, sorry for that.

Come on now, let's not go to dreamland. Halo will probably sell more in America than Splatoon will do in it's lifetime. Willing to bet on that if you'd like.

Halo very much has to, anyway, considering that around 80% of the XBO are sold in America. If Halo 5 in North America would fail to outsell Splatoon worldwide, it would ean that either Splatoon is an even bigger hit than we think or Halo did fail hard somewhere along the line.

As for the OP: yes, why not. Splatoon's hype is still going on, and new content incoming on a regular basis keeps it fresh which probably translates into the game being quite leggy. Both the Order and Bloodborne dropped hard shortly after release, so Splatoon can probably pass them over time. As for Forza, the series declined a bit over it's last installments, so there could be a possibility as well. Halo, on the other hand, will most probably be out of reach unless it messes up a lot.
